• Giving women access to equal opportunities allows them to
emerge as social and economic actors, influencing and shaping
more inclusive policies.
• Greater gender equality can enhance economic efficiency and
improve other development outcomes by removing barriers that
prevent women from having the same access as men to
resources, rights and opportunities.
• Improving women’s status also leads to more investment in
their children’s education, health, and overall well-being.

Countries need to start thinking of human capital
differently - including how they integrate women into
leadership roles. This shift in mindset and practice is not
a goal for the future. It is an imperative today.
