Module #1 – Spiritual Leadership

Syllabus

This course is designed to give you an overview of what leadership in Christ’s church should look like in

order to help you develop as a leader from the inside out. The course is intended to have a duration of

three months. The following work should be completed:

1. Gather with the other leadership trainees in your church monthly to view and discuss a 30-

minute video segment of various aspects of spiritual leadership.

Month #1 – “The Foundation of Leadership: Christlike Character”

Month #2 – “Nehemiah: The Competencies of Godly Leadership”

Month #3 – “Learning from the Ultimate Leader: Jesus Christ”

2. Purchase and read Courageous Leadership by Bill Hybels over the course of three months.

3. Secure a plan to read through the Bible in a year and begin to implement that plan in your daily

time with the Lord.

4. Meet monthly with your mentor as assigned for dialog, counsel, and accountability.

Bio of Facilitator: Terry has been in ministry in the C&MA since 1981. He has served in the local church

and in district ministry. He currently serves as District Superintendent of the Eastern PA District. He holds

a bachelor’s degree from Toccoa Falls College, a master’s degree from Crown College and is the author of

Changing Course: Leading Older Churches in a New Direction.
