#3: event management

§ Are you interested in how a Public Mega-Event is created, planned and carried out behind the

scenes?

§ Let’s say, for something as huge as Olympic Games Opening and Closing ceremonies? Do you

want to gain inside information regarding the London 2012 Games?

Then you cannot miss the next Leadership series Les Roches is hosting on the topic of Event

Management focusing on ‘Iconic Events’ with Simon Graveling as the guest speaker. Simon will

engage with students and discuss what it takes to create and plan major events under the global

spot light.

Simon Graveling has been in the live events

industry since the early eighties, and he is the

Chairman of Stage One, currently tackling

the most demanding aspects of staging the

Ceremonies of the Olympic Games. He has

been instrumental in the Athens 2004, Beijing

2008 and the forthcoming London 2012

Games. Simon has also organised committees

in Beijing, the Asian Games in Doha and

the IOC itself, and last summer he served as

Head of Ceremonies and Production Project

Director for the Athens 2011 Special Olympics

World Summer Games. Prior to joining Stage

One, Simon was involved in the production

of promotional and marketing events and

he was responsible for the creative launch of

international brands. His involvement with

Jack Morton has allowed Simon to travel and

organise mega events around the world for

the last 25 years.
