LEADERSHIP RICHARDSON ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SEPTEMBER 2012 LRAA MISSION: TO POSITIVELY IMPACT OUR COMMUNITY BY CONNECTING AND INSPIRING MEMBERS IN LEADERSHIP PAGE 1 RECONNECTING - MOVING FORWARD Another LRAA year of activities culminated with a wonderful summer picnic, hosted by LR Class XXVI this past July. It was a new initiative that this “best class” chose to take on. The LRAA Board was pleased to help them with some of the funding needs, but also in helping to communicate and connect with all the other LR classes. There was a good cross mix of classes at the picnic and even for me, your new President of LRAA for 2012-13, I found myself connecting with and or reconnecting with LR graduates that I had not known or seen in quite some time. So, as President of LRAA this year, I have adopted a motto by which the LRAA Board will work to incorporate into the things we do this year…Reconnecting Moving Forward…is the motto and I hope all LR grads will come to understand its importance to LRAA. The year LRAA celebrated its 25th Anniversary was a momentous and memorable year. I believe paid/active members of LRAA were at the highest level that year. In the two years that have followed the paid/active membership has dropped even with the infusion of approximately 70 new grads from LR26 and LR27. I’m sure there are lots of reasons, but what I want this year’s Board and active LRAA members to focus on is how to move LRAA forward so that the organization gets even stronger, more viable and able to establish new programs supporting both social and leadership development initiatives. The only way to achieve this is for membership to reconnect with LRAA by being more active and choosing to be paid members of the organization. Our ability to develop new programs and to meet the budgetary costs associated with doing so, will be greatly enhanced by a stronger membership base. Yes, we can continue to put our eorts into numerous fund raising activities that we have had to do over the past few years, but I would rather see the majority of the work your Board does be devoted to leadership development programs, community service and the social events we all enjoy. The more our LR grads are connected to and involved with LRAA, the better our chances are in moving LRAA forward so that even more in our community will be served by the leadership that exists in LRAA. Don’t get me wrong, LRAA has been doing stellar work over its entire existence, but there is always room for more and that is why we need you to reconnect with us if you have not already. As an incentive, the LRAA annual dues will be increased to $50 eective November 1, 2012. Until then our current $40 dues that has been in existence for as long as we can remember will be honored. I or any member of this year’s Board will be happy to respond to any questions you may have. We hope to see a record turnout at the New Class Reception that will be held at Canyon Creek Country Club on Wednesday, October 24th. Be sure to mark this date on your calendar notices and invitations will be coming your way. Reconnecting Moving Forward…this is our challenge to the organization. We hope you, as leaders, are up to this challenge as well. Bruce C. RECONNECTING - MOVING FORWARDAnother LRAA year of activities culminated with a wonderful summer picnic, hosted by LR Class XXVI this past July.

So, as President of LRAA this year, I have adopted a motto by which the LRAA Board will work to incorporate into the things we do this year…Reconnecting – Moving Forward…is the motto and I hope all LR grads will come to understand its importance to LRAA.

Yes, we can continue to put our efforts into numerous fund raising activities that we have had to do over the past few years, but I would rather see the majority of the work your Board does be devoted to leadership development programs, community service and the social events we all enjoy. As an incentive, the LRAA annual dues will be increased to $50 effective November 1, 2012.

Reconnecting – Moving Forward…this is our challenge to the organization. We hope you, as leaders, are up to this challenge as well.

DON’T MISS THE EVENT OF THE YEAR...THE LRAA BOARD DINNER

Come prepared to bid during the live auction for the ever popular Board Dinner at this year's New Class Reception. Make plans in advance with your LRAA friends to determine a comfort level for bidding and designate someone to bid on your groups behalf. Bidding is open to all LRAA grads and members of the current LR Class 28, so bid as a group, by class year, or individually. Proceeds from the Board Dinner auction and the Silent Auction go to support the LRAA activities and scholarship programs. LR ROPES IN NEW RANCH HANDS FOR THE FLYING R RANCH

LR Class XXVIII kicked off Sept. 6th at the Flying R Ranch Round Up - the Road Rally and Welcome Dinner hosted by Richland College. Sept. 13th they ‘saddled up” at Stony Ranch. Who can imagine an opening retreat in rainy weather and cloudy skies on a day that the temperature did not go above 70 degrees! The next day, MetroPCS and our own Chris Luna hosted the class for the beginning the their LR leadership development and they are ready to “git along” with their class year.

We have another terrific class. We welcome them to the LR family and look forward to all of the alumni meeting them at the New Class Reception on October 24th.
