ARE YOU READY FOR LNY? LNY offers something you can’t find in any other program. It delivers a unique, civic style of leadership – one that’s built on understanding complexity, listening to multiple perspectives and leading change. Simply stated, participants hone the skills needed to get things done in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. This is valuable for public service professionals and those in the private sector who increasingly have to navigate the intersection of government and business.

Coro is New York City’s premier civic leadership training organization and a community of 2,500 alumni in business, government, nonprofit and schools who are shaping the future of our city.

TRAINING & PEER CONSULTING Over the course of the program, participants develop close ties through intensive training and peer consulting, exploring leadership through group process using the cohort as a case study. Many alumni remain connected with members of their cohort more than a decade after they participated in the program.

EXPERT INTERVIEWS Participants are exposed to a range of stakeholders – from CEOs to Commissioners to community advocates – to understand how policy decisions are really made and why. They also gain an awareness of multiple sector perspectives and the benefits of collaboration to drive change. SMALL GROUP STUDY Participants self-select into a small group study around one current, challenging

policy issue that will expand their personal knowledge, concluding with a planned event called an “Issue Day” to educate the entire class on the issue and the various points of view from all sides of the debate. EXPLORATION OF CURRENT CIVIC TOPICS Participants leave with a deeper understanding of issues and interests than are learned from simply reading the newspaper.

ANALYTICAL & LEADERSHIP EXERCISES LNY presents participants with a series of challenges, both in the NYC public sector and in their place of business, to push them to explore all aspects of an issue and navigate their varying stakeholder interests to enhance leadership skills.

APPLICATION & TUITIONVisit coro.nyc to apply online and learn more about the program. Tuition is $5,500 (which includes a $100 materials fee) for approximately 175 hours of leadership development training, individual and small group coaching, travel, lodging and meals at the opening retreat, and access to Coro alumni and cross-program events. Limited scholarships are available.

KEY PROGRAM FEATURES my LNY Experience

Leadership New York helped me understand our city from many different perspectives and as an alum, my Coro connections give me a leg up working in city government. There are Coro alums in every agency, and the networking is invaluable.

—Hon. Helen Rosenthal COUNCIL MEMBER

NYC Council – District 6

LNY provided valuable perspectives about the issues facing the City and lessons in leadership grounded in the diverse backgrounds and experi-ences of my fellow Coro alumni. I regularly turn to these lessons learned and relationships formed with those in the public, private and non-profit sectors to constantly improve NYC.

Thanks to my experience with Coro, I have an invalu-able extended network of professionals who I can call on to offer advice and support when I’m facing challenges or exploring new opportunities at work.
