What is it?Studies show when healthcare staff have consistently good experiences at work,

patient experience also improves as does safety and clinical outcomes.

Let’s Talk Culture is an organisational wide engagement programme to

• bring together the best of the former Cwm Taf and Bridgend

• create a compelling, shared cultural narrative

• developing our values, behaviours and decision-making

BackgroundA number of cultural imperatives including:

• Royal Colleges’ review of maternity services

• Staff survey results

• Bridgend boundary change

• Improving our approach to quality and governance

• Increased escalation status



While the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RCOG) report was specific to Maternity Services, it also identified failings in culture and leadership which are likely to impact the organisation more widely.



The Staff Survey highlighted issues around bullying and harassment, stress, senior leadership and a lack of belief from our people that anything would change.



Together we plan to co-create our culture

• Involve 1,000s of staff + 100s of patients in big creative, listening workshops

and a major culture survey

• Translate values into behaviours that patients and staff do / don’t want to see

• Easier to appreciate and speak up about values – to tackle poor behaviours and

encourage positive ones

• Focus on how we do things – build values into our teamwork, decisions,

processes

Your leadership role• Encourage your teams to take part in ‘Let’s Talk Culture’ survey to tell us about

their experience at work, and their ideas to make it better

• Support them to register for our workshops during w/c November 4th to 8th

• Make sure you complete survey and register to attend at least one workshop

• Be visible at our workshops: welcome staff to workshops, introduce sessions

• Accept opportunities to be a positive role model

• Available to all staff throughout October

• An opportunity to tell us about your experience at work, and your ideas to make

it better

• Completely anonymous and only 10 minutes to complete

• To find the survey, check your inbox, the intranet or get a paper copy from your

line manager.
