Corrosion Prevention for Sheet Piling - United States of America
The scope of the projectincluded removing the old anddamaged timber bulkhead andreplacing it with new Rigspraycoated steel sheet piles. Therewas a total of 107 pieces of 55”wide x 45’ long sheet pilings with
Rigspray Provides UltimateCorrosion Protection For aNew Bulkhead at a BostonArea Marina
each one weighing over 6,000lbs. A quantity of 1,250 gallons ofRigspray (250 ea. 5 gallon kits)was used to coat thedouble-sided sheet piles. The total surface area coatedwas over 50,000 square feet.
The failure of an existing timber marine sea wall led CLEEngineering to specify Rigspray (polyester glass flakecoating) as the coating to protect new steel sheet pilesfrom corrosion.

Corrosion Prevention for Pipebridge - United Kingdom
Steelcoat System Protectionfor Tees PipebridgeThe Denso Steelcoat 400/100 System has been chosen toprotect a Northumbrian Water pipebridge. The 65m lengthpipebridge carries potable water in two 33” diameter mains.
The contractors for this majorpipebridge refurbishment projectwere Advanced EngineeringSolutions Ltd of Cramlington.Once again they demonstratedthat the Denso Steelcoat 400/100System can give an attractivefinish as well as fulfiling its maincorrosion prevention role.
The Denso Steelcoat 400/100System was applied followingwire brushing to remove previouscoatings. First Denso Hi-TackPrimer was applied followed byDenso Profiling Mastic to fill voidsand even profiles etc on theflanges. The pipework was thenoverwrapped with Denso Hi-TackTape followed by Denso UltrasealTape. The application wascompleted by applying two coatsof green Denso Acrylic Topcoat.

Corrosion Prevention for Oil Pipeline - Canada
The development ofthe mining business forextracting oil from the oilrich sands of the CanadianNorth is continuing at arapid pace. More mine sitesare being built and newmega-projects are beingannounced as the worldis beginning to recognizeCanada as a safe and reliableresource of oil. Countriessuch as the United Statesand China and their greatdemand for the resource isone of the big driving factorsinfluencing the growth ofAlberta’s Oilsands.
Part of the equation of theexport of Canadian oil is theconstruction of the infrastructurerequired to move the oil, in itsvarious states of refinement, todifferent markets around the world.Pipelines are being utilized as theprimary mode of transportation forthe initial movement of product torefineries throughout Canada andthe U.S.. Pipelines are also utilizedas the carrier to get liquids toocean ports, primarily along theWestern Coast of Canada, whereit can be loaded onto ocean

tankers for markets overseas.Of utmost importance to the
pipeline companies is preservationof their infrastructure, or pipelines,
as these projects representenormous investments of timeand money. Failures of theselines are extremely expensiveand can have hugeenvironmental impacts.Denso North America is currentlyinvolved with one of thesepipeline projects as the selectedsupplier of liquid epoxies used asan external corrosion barrier ongirth-welds, transition fittings aswell as on joints of pipe that were

not plant coated with FBE. The‘Anchor Loop’ project is the initialphase of Kinder Morgan’s TMX(Trans-Mountain X-ing) whichwhen completed will run fromEdmonton, Alberta to Vancouver,British Columbia. It is a significantproject for a number of reasons, one of which is that it runsthrough one of Canada’s NationalParks and is an extremelyenvironmentally sensitive area;also the fact that it crosses theRocky Mountains provideschallenges in itself. Anotherimportant aspect of the project isthat it strengthens Canada’sposition to increase flow of liquidsto west coast terminals.
North American Construction isthe pipeline contractor responsiblefor building the line having theexperience and equipment tohandle a job of this magnitude.North American’s Denso CertifiedCoating Teams have the job ofhand applying the Denso Protal7200 to over 10,000 joints andtransition fittings in a variety ofclimatic conditions. For manydays North American crews areworking in minus 30 degreeCelsius temperatures. It takesserious equipment and manpowerand a serious coating to takeon a project like this.
Denso Protal 7200 (brushapplied) and Protal 7250 (sprayapplied) is a time-tested 100%liquid epoxy which has provenitself to the pipeline and energycompanies which encompassthe oil and gas industry ofCanada and because of this,Protal is often the coating ofchoice for major Oilsandsprojects. Denso meets andexceeds both the technicalrequirements and practicalapplication criteria forpipelining in the rugged North.Tried. Tested. True.
The pipelengths are welded together and the welded joint areas are then coated with Denso Protal 7200before being buried.

Corrosion Prevention for Tie Bars - Republic of South Africa
Only once the order wasreceived did we fully realise thechallenges which lay ahead. Notonly was the wrapping takingplace over our Christmas / NewYear shut-down period, but the1500 wrapped tie bars were tobe loaded into 40ft containers forshipping to “The East” withoutbeing damaged in transit.
Two tie bar wrapping machinesfrom the UK were airfreighted inand were pivotal in completing thewrapping successfully andon time.
Denso Corrosion Protectionfor Tie BarsA local steel manufacturer approached Denso South Africa fora tie bar specification for corrosion protection of approx 1500x 50mm tie bars which were to be wrapped at themanufacturer’s premises before being exported to Australia. The system comprises of a Denso Petrolatum Tape innerlayer and Densopol 60 Tape as the outer layer.
Country: South Africa
Location: Unspecified
Object Tie bars
Problem: Corrosion prevention
Productsolution: Denso Tape and Densopol 60 Tape
Project Summary
Product type: Buried onshore coatings
An innovated method ofprotecting the bundled tie barsin transit was devised whichensured that they were notdamaged during loading, shippingand installation.
This was the first major tie barproject for Denso South Africaworth approx R900K with thepromise for future orders.

Corrosion Prevention for Jetty Piles - Australia
PWCS, located at the Port ofNewcastle in NSW, operates theworld’s largest and most efficientcoal handling operations with anannual ship loading capacity of102 million tonnes. PWCS is acontinuous 24 hour a dayoperation utilising modernenvironmental controls andadvanced quality controltechniques.
The PWCS Terminals canaccommodate 5 shipssimultaneously (3 at theKooragang Terminal), at itsberths with all of these potentiallyloading at any one time.
In conjunction with theApplicators McLennan’s DivingService, Denso supplied theSeashield Series 100 System tobe fitted to more than 100tubular steel piles that previouslyhad been coated with a thin filmof paint which had startedto corrode.
In 2007 Denso (Australia) Pty Ltd supplied the SeashieldSeries 100 System for the protection of piles at the PortWaratah Coal Service (PWCS) Kooragang TerminalExpansion Project 3D.
