P A time to be born, and a time to die;

C As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him.

P And a time to pluck up what is planted;

C Let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely.

P A time to kill, and a time to heal;

C With his wounds we are healed.

Confession and Absolution

P Let us confess our sins to God and lay aside the weight of guilt and sin that clings so closely to us.

C Almighty God, we confess to you that we have turned away from your Word and will to follow our own sinful desires. We have listened to the temptations of Satan and of the world around us. We have sinned against you in our thoughts, words and actions. For the sake of Jesus our Savior, forgive us and lift the burden of sin and guilt from us.

P When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son. At the right time Christ died and rose from death to give us new life. For Jesus’ sake and by his command I announce to you that your sins are forgiven in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

C With his wounds we are healed.
