product range, is pleased to announce the new Chimera 400 MP vertical camera system at the 2014 ASPRS convention in Louisville, Kentucky. The Chimera is the latest addition to the Midas camera product line introduced in 2005. Over one hundred Midas cameras have been sold world-wide, which indisputably qualifies the Midas as the main source of oblique aerial photography in the world. With tens of millions of images taken, the Midas has proven to be a very dependable system and the Chimera will add to this reputa-tion.

The Chimera is a cluster of five TCam 80 MP cameras, derived from the successful Phase One iXA 180. TCam was designed and built in our Florida facility with the backing and support of PHASE ONE INDUSTRIAL. (Please refer to the

The main advantage of the TCam lies in its replaceable shutter. This allows the user to change a broken shutter in mid-air, within minutes, and continue flying without the need for re-calibration or re-boresighting.

The 400 mp Chimera is a very large camera system with a view angle of more than 120° which has completely revolutionized the way an aerial camera is installed in an aircraft. A new stabilized mount system has been specially developed to allow the Chimera to be installed as low as possible in a standard 19in (48cm) camera hole. This revolutionary system, the Pup-petair, gives the Chimera a full stabilization range of +/- 10 degrees in pitch and roll as well as +/- 30 degrees of drift correction. Thanks to the patented Puppetair principle, the stabilized mount mechanism is actually above the Chimera and the camera moves in the camera hole.

The Chimera is a complete package delivered ready to use, with its camera already fully cali-brated & boresighted. The clients can take advantage of our on-site worldwide installation and training. This system also comes with our new zero ground time policy and warranty which in-sures the user that any malfunction will be dealt with within 24 hours.

The Chimera structure is engineered to prevent any relative structural movement between the individual camera modules and the IMU. Once calibrated & boresighted the Chimera geometry will remain perfectly stable over time. The stabilization system requires a 19 inch camera hole to operate at its maximum range capacity.

The new Midas computer which controls the Chimera includes several improvements over the previous versions: The SSD drive cluster is now part of the Midas housing and the system now comes with an environmental control unit to monitor temperature, humidity, voltage, current, etc.

The Chimera can be delivered with several lens combination:

80mm vertical/110mm oblique (standard delivery) 110mm vertical/150mm oblique (available on order) 150mm vertical/240mm oblique (available on order) Other customs combinations are possible (50mm/80mm, 80mm/150mm, etc)

Lenses are changeable by the user although it is highly recommended to have this procedure done in our facility to insure perfect assembly, sharp focus and a fresh calibration.

* Note that the TDI forward motion compensation is not possible with the Chimera, even when using the LS lenses.
