FALL LEXINGTON COUNTY LACROSSERegistration: July 1- August 30. Lexington County Recreation is proud to introduce thesport of Lacrosse to Lexington County! Starting in the Fallof 2014, Lexington County will begin forming our Lacrosseteam. This team will travel around the state playing otherrecreational teams. Cost: $70/child. Ages: 7-14

LEXINGTON COUNTY CO-ED KICKBALL LEAGUESRegistration: July 1- August 30. Come out and enjoy fun and fellowship with friends andfamily playing an all time classic game. The league will runon Tuesday/Thursday nights at Pine Grove Sports Complex.If you are an individual that would like to be placed with ateam or a team looking for some extra players, call 359-4048 ext 240. This is a recreational fun league. We use thesame type of kickball you used on the playground as a kid!Winners will receive an LCRAC Adult Co-ed KickballLeague t-shirt and trophy. Games will be officiated. Seasonwill start in September.$150/team. Ages 18+

YOUTH TRACKRegistration: December 1, 2014-March 15, 2015.Come join our program for our third season. This is arecreational program designed to help youth stay active andfit while at the same time having fun with your friends. Ourteam will compete against runners from all over the statewith a chance to compete at the National Finals hosted byHershey's Track and Field program.Cost: $35 per runner.

LEXINGTON YOUTH BASKETBALLRegistration: October 6-20.Come out and join the best youth basketball league in theMidlands. This recreational league will focus on teachingplayers the fundamentals and basics of basketball. Aging DepartmentThe overall goal of the seven Senior Centers of theLexington County Recreation and Aging Commission issummarized in the motto, Privileged Ones GrowingOlder. Recognizing that it is a privilege to grow older, westrive to enhance the lives of the older adults in ourpopulation and to acknowledge and benefit from thenumerous gifts those persons have to offer through theirparticipation in our programs.

Our Senior Centers offer a variety of programs andactivities aimed at enhancing an older adult’s mental andphysical wellness. Anyone who wishes to participate inour programs must be free of conditions requiringpersonal care assistance or personal supervision. Olderadults are welcome to participate in the daily activities atthe Centers. Call your local Center for age requirements,memberships, activity fees and program availability.

Canned Food Drive Needs Your HelpLexington County Aging Department is in need of help from thecommunity in collecting canned food and non-perishable food items.Last year during the month of December approximately 8oo bags ofnon-perishable food items were assembled and distributed to all Mealson Wheels participants in Lexington County.

As a consequence of an increased need for nutrition services, thenumber of Meals on Wheels participants has increased this yearresulting in more bags that will need to be prepared to meet the needs ofour clients.

If you, your church, or your business would like to participate by beinga collection site, hosting a canned food drive, or you would like to makean individual donation, please contact Donna Neel at 356-5111 foradditional information and a list of items and sizes preferred. September is National Senior Center Month! The national theme isSenior Centers: Experts at Living Well. Each senior center is an integralpart of the community in which it is located. While all centers offer thesame core services, the diversity of programs and activities offered reflectthe interests and wishes of those attending a particular center. All sevensenior centers will have activities to celebrate senior center month.

A personalized program for seniors 55+ to enhance muscularstrength, aerobic endurance, flexibility and body composition.Seniors are required to purchase a Wellness Center Membership tothe Leisure Center and a $25 assessment charge for Senior StrengthTraining. The program involves an initial assessment with a trainerto get a baseline for a personal exercise program. After the initialassessment, the participant will meet with the trainer one-on-one foran equipment orientation and training session. Periodic follow-upassessments will be done to track the participant’s progress andupdate his/her exercise program. In addition, the participant canmeet with the trainer for wellness consultations. As a part of theprogram, monthly workshops and health screenings are offered topromote total health and wellness.
