  • reetings Fellow Leos!

Wish you all a very Hap-py 2015! Indore, along with a major chunk of India, witnessed a rainy, stormy

and chilly New Years Eve and forced all of us to stay in-doors. However, we hope everyone welcomed the New Year, singing and dancing, with family and friends. The last few weeks have brought some utterly unpleas-ant news from around the world- the attack in Paris, the crash of the Air Asia flight from Malaysia, another act of terror-

We Speak.ism in a small caf in Australia and so on. We are fortunate to be safe and happy. Let us pray for a more peaceful and friendly future for our Earth in 2015.

Closer home, The General Meet-ing of December with Christmas Celebration was a lot of fun with games and garadu. Leo Club of In-dore hosted the Council Meet this time. We received a great response to the event and decided to in-clude some testimonials of visitors in this edition.

Looking forward to our An-nual Trip and later Multiple Convention in May at Delhi. Before that, we need to work towards our

flagship event, WOW. Let us strive to break our own prior records and take LCI to newer heights!Signing off for now,The Editors.

It was a pleasure of Leo Club of Indore to host the second council meeting of LEO MULTIPLE 323 on 4th

of January 2015 at Hotel President Park, Indore. In the leadership of MDP Leo Darshan Nagarseth, MDS Leo Ojas Rawal and MDT Leo Rahul Jain, meeting was inaugurated by Lions District Governor Lion Kulbhushan Mittal and Leo Multiple Council Chairperson Lion Govind Sharma. Govind Sharma specially came for this meeting from Jaipur. District President Leo Rahul

Tanted and Club President Leo Vaibhav Khandelwal were also a part of the dice. Lot of issues and budgets were discussed and passed among all the dignitaries and council members . All the post holders of the micro group including Multiple Joint Secretory Leo Mohit Nagori presented there reports and plans.Lion Govind Sharma presented his important view on the Blood Collection event done by LCI west, that , we should consistently promote the Blood Donation activities in colleges and clubs where the participants are young as they are usually not suffering from any

COUNCIL MEET HELD IN INDOREdisease at there age. We are sharing this thought in this report because we can really think hard on it. As today in India, usually we need to replace a blood unit of any group in exchange of a blood unit. But this scenario is almost over in Jaipur with the efforts of Lion Govind

Sharma and his club. Our club should also take a note of this. The MDP and the MDS convention disclosed the dates of the most awaited event Leo Multiple Convention 2015. It is going to be held in Delhi on 29-30-31 May 2015. The details will be share with the club members soon.Lion Kulbhushan Mittal inaugrated the Multiple Directory and gifted medals and pins to all the micro members. An android application was introduced which shares information of multiple 323 and is available at the google play store named Leo Sarthi-Multiple 323.

The meeting was successfully finished with an exotic lunch in the garden facing porch of the hotel and the members were adjured with a souvenir from LCIM which included the specialty namkeen of Indore.

The legacy cricket tournament of Leo club of Indore was to be hosted with second council meet on 3rd January. This time the clash was between the multiple districts and as being the host club Leo club of Indore had to put our nose in keeping everything perfect. The practice and preparations started a month prior to execute better than the benchmark set in past few years.Unfortunately due to bad weather and no season rains the tournament execution was not possible on the ground booked by us. The board looked into the matter and it was decided to cancel the tournament but with the cancellation the excitement and enthusiasm amongst the players turned into disappointment, who had come travelling a long distance to play the matches...Keeping in mind the interest of all and after a long discussion, on the spot booking of cricket ground was done and it was decided to held 6 overs tournament at the president park ground itself.Again the core team got into action and all the arrangements were done, finally yes it was time to start the matches now. 1ST MATCH held between Leo club of Bombay uptown and Leo club of Ahmedabad. Mumbai players gave a tough fight to the gujjus but could not manage to win.Result: Ahmedabad won by 7 runs. 2ND MATCH: Leo club of Bhiwandi vs district A3The match went one sided by the charming batting line up of Leo club of Bhiwandi and the A3 people could not chase the target.Result: Bhiwandi won by 20 runs. 3RD MATCH: Leo club of Indore main vs Leo club of Indore west. With batting first Leo club of Indore main made a high target of 48 runs which got next to

impossible for west guys to cover up. Result: Leo club of Indore main won by 30 runs. With this the knockout matches ended and 1. Leo club of Indore main2. Leo club of Bhiwandi 3. Leo club of Ahmedabad4. Leo club of Bombay uptown (won by net run rate) Managed to enter the semi-finals.

Post lunch, the first match of semi-final was:Leo club of Indore main vs Leo club of Bhiwandi. The match was tough from both the sides. Batting first Leo club of Bhiwandi made 28 runs in 5 oversAnd the host club lost by mere 1 run.Result: Leo club of Bhiwandi won by 1 run and entered the finals. 2nd semi-final was played between Leo club of Ahmedabad and Leo club of Bombay uptown : This time keeping the uptown guys on a lower side Leo club of Ahmedabad showed their determination over cricket as a religion and won the match. After all the breath-taking matches it was time for finals now :

LEO CLUB OF AHMEDABAD VS LEO CLUB OF BHIWANDIBhiwandi won the toss and elected to bat first and their decision went correct as after first innings Ahmedabad boys needed 42 runs to win in just 5 overs which was a tough target to achieve.Ahmedabad showed great batting and gave team a hope to win. Gradually in the mid overs the bowling team bucked up and wickets started to fall and one by one added more to the list. As a result Leo club of Bhiwandi won the finals by 10 runs and became the champions. First time in the Leo district cricket tournament history Leo club of Ahmedabad lost and this trend was changed by Leo club of Bhiwandi -the winners of Hit n Run 2014-15 hosted by Leo club of Indore main.

I am both a philatelist and a numismatist. I have been pur-suing these hobbies since I was around 9 years old. I was

inspired by my grandfather, who had a huge collection and had been carrying on this activity since his own childhood

days. I was always curious to know about the meaning behind each stamp and coin and the country from which it came. Both these hobby have taught me a lot about the his-

tory and culture of various countries around the world.

Stamps are of various shapes and sizes. Most are printed on paper while in some instances they have been printed

on khadi, silk, cotton etc. Some stamps have fragrances of different flowers. Some are 3D. Some have precious stones

    on them.

I have over 1 lakh postal stamps, belonging to approxi-mately 120 different countries. The oldest stamp is from the late 19th century. Being a member of the Philately Bureau,

I regularly receive the latest stamps, first day covers and miniature sheets that are released in India.

My coin collection has ancient coins belonging to the 13th century, coins released by the East India Company, coins

belonging to the erstwhile princely states of Gwalior, Udaipur etc. The major collection has Indian coins but there

are other coins from around 60 countries. These coins are systematically arranged both on the basis of their value (1

paisa, 5 paisa, Re.1, Rs. 2) and also on the basis of the year in which they were issued (1972, 1995, 2012 and so on).

Commemorative coins are ones which are issued on some special events. They also form a big part of my collection.

With the advent of newer technologies like e-mails and e-commerce, stamps and coins are becoming rare by the

passing day. Naturally, these hobbies are also fading away. But I feel that this is the time when we need to hold on to these objects because touching them alone transports

us to that time and teaches us more than books can.

MY CORNERPhilately is the study of stamps. Stamp collection is one of the areas of Philately and a person who collects stamps is called a

Philatelist. Numismatics is the study or collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money, and related objects. Numismatists

are often characterized as students or collectors of coins.

To get a real good luck, dont surf the internet this month.

This is your lucky month. But

dont take a risk. We may

    be lying.

You might develop gills if you go for swimming tonight.

Dont drop the soap this month and if you do, just leave it. Its too risky this

    month.

    If someone sneezes near you,

go home and sleep on your

bed or else you are in for

    some bad luck.

Your color combination for this month is red and

    yellow. Wear your clothes accordingly.

A cold wet paper towel will

drop onto the back of your

    neck.

The crystal ball used for finding you future is not

    working today. Find a mechanic.

    You could find love this

    month. Stay indoors. Avoid

    perils of love.

You will not be able to beat the level you have been

stuck at on CANDY CRUSH this month.

    Take bath with cold water,

    there are chances that you

    may get 1000 dollars.

The sky will be blue this month, even if dark clouds

    cover it.

MYTH Frequent trims make your hair grow faster.

FACT Cutting the ends of your hair doesnt affect the follicles in your scalp, which determine how fast and how much your hair grows. Hair grows an average of a quarter-inch every monthwhether or not you cut it. MYTH You always use the same shampoo, eventually it will stop working.

FACTYou dont need to practice shampoo rotation to keep your hair clean. But if youve recently started coloring your hair or increased your use of hot tools, it might be a good idea to switch to a more moisturizing shampoo. Otherwise, stick with your favorite as long as you love it.

    3#

MYTH A cold-water rinse makes your hair shinier.

FACTHairstylists love to spread this myth. The icy water will

make the cuticle of your hair close so its flat (and light-reflective), not ruffled (and dull-looking). Your hair, however, contains no living cells, it

doesnt react to cold or hot water

MYTH For healthy hair, brush 100 strokes a day.

FACTYouve probably heard that rigorous brushing will distribute the natural oils from your scalp to add shine to your hair or that it

will stimulate blood flow to your scalp and boost hair growth. Neither is true. In fact, brushing causes friction on hair, leading to cuticle damage and breakage, which makes hair lusterless and frizzy. Brush your hair minimally & use the right toolsa wide-toothed comb or a paddle brush with ball-tipped, plastic bristles.

Experiences can be good or bad, however what is impor-tant is, what we learn from them. As learning from experi-ences is the best, many a times it comes too late. I am very happy for my children as Leo club of Indore has provided

them a platform to organize events, to enhance their crea-tive and management skills & finally to learn from their

    own experiences.

The activities conducted by Leo Club of Indore are at par as compared to any other club or organization. The club

encourages its members to understand ones responsibili-ties, work as team and emerge out as a leader.

Though I am not a part of any Leo organization, the most appreciable thing that I see in Leo Club of Indore is the

dedication towards Leoism and sincerity towards making an event successful. I hope that all of you must be imple-

menting these lessons learnt from Leo club to your profes-sion too & must be excelling in that.

    Keep Performing!

Mr. Sharad Baxi(Father of Leo Palash Baxi)

    EXPERIENCE IS THE BEST

    TEACHER

eena Rao, who has been teaching slum children for free in Surat, Gujarat, has benefited over 5,000 students so far, working with 34 volunteers across the city. The curriculum lays emphasis on a holistic education by including discipline, yoga, mannerisms, and other aspects which are often neglected by the government schools. And all of this is free of cost for the children. We admire her dedication and love towards education.

She introduced Prayas, a free coaching institute for slum children, with the help of her husband in 2006. Initially having started with teaching 2-3 children herself, she now has a team of 34 volunteers who teach around 1,200 students at eight different coaching centers across Surat, Gujarat. Rao, with the help of various volunteers, conducts coaching for the students of classes 3rd to 8th at various locations for free. She pays Rs.1,000-1,500 to the volunteers out of her own pocket or some donations that Prayas receives.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT YOUR INITIATIVE?

RAO: A batch has 30 students and classes are conducted in the evening from 6 pm to 8 pm. Apart from teaching basic subjects, she also imparts moral education, and encourages students to engage in various art and craft activities. The curriculum lays an emphasis on holistic education by including discipline, yoga, mannerisms, and other aspects which are often neglected by the government schools.WHAT WAS THE IMPACT OF YOUR EFFORTS?

RAO: A couple of months of training brought radical changes in the students. They stopped using abusive language

and slang, mellowed down a bit and learnt a few basic courtesies. They became more disciplined and started showing better results in academics. WHAT WERE THE MAJOR CHALLENGES YOU FACED?

RAO: Convincing the children and their families was a challenge, Rao says.It took a lot of time to build trust and get the children and families interested. Also, getting dedicated volunteers with the right spirit is important. And, because we dont pay them much, we have to convince them to strike the right chord, Rao says.

Leo Club of Indore is the perfect epitome of hospitality, dedication, inno-vation and hard work. It was only because of their efforts the rain affected

impossible cricket tournament became possible. Nakhrali dhani was another wonderful experience of traditional dining and dancing. I personally had a very memorable trip and I am sure every Leo had a same feeling. On be-half of multiple 323 and all the Leos, I thank leo club of indore for these

wistful memories and Congratulate them for successfully hosting 2nd multiple council meet.

Leo Dipesh DoshiMultiple District Secretary (323)

One of the corner- stones of Leoism is the fellowship that comes with being a Leo. The feeling of belongingness and camaraderie that one

experiences upon being a part of the Leo family is unparalleled. And for me, that very sentiment resonated throughout the Leo Multiple Council Meet held recently in Indore! Integrity, knowledge and professionalism are the words that come to mind when I think of Leos from Indore. The respect and care extended the Leo Clubs from District 323-G1 is over-

whelming and profound, and especially that of the Leo Club of Indore. As hosts, the Leos of the Leo Club of Indore have always played a flawless role and this Council Meet was no different

to that adage. Under the capable and brilliant leadership of Club President Leo Vaibhav Khandelwal, team LCI was at the forefront in all aspects. The cricket tournament was an

exciting beginning of the trip, the fervour of which lasted way beyond the finale match. The unforgettable visit to the cultural oasis of Nakhrali Dhani and its mouth-watering cuisine

were absolutely incomparable. The Council Meet, too, in the presence of Lion leaders from the District and Multiple as well as Leo PMDPs was an enriching experience of exchanging ideas,

learning lessons, unveiling the Leo Directory and Leo App, and even performing skits to unveil the Delhi convention! The true worth of an experience lies is how much one misses it, cherishes it and reminisces about it... and Indores Council Meet certainly counts amongst one of them.

It was beyond endearing to meet the dear friends Ive made from Indore and to be gifted with hospitality that feels like a family reunion, once again. As a fellow Leo who takes

pride in sharing my Multiple with such prolific Leo clubs, I extend my heartiest kudos to all LCI members for being such gracious hosts and giving us visitors some wonderful

memories for a lifetime! With Leoistic Regards,Lion-Leo Ojas Rawal - Vice Multiple District President(323)

I wish to thank all the Members of Leo Club of Indore especially to our host club president Leo Vaibhav khandewal for contributing to the success of the 2nd Leo

Multiple Council Meet for the Leoistic Year 2014-15. I have heard nothing but glow-ing responses from those who attended it. There would never have been such a positive

response without your generous support, whether as regards finances or as regards organ-izing the Dinner at Nakhrali Dhani.I would really like to appreciate Leo Club of Indore for

organizing wonderful tracking with the support of awesome weather and the selection of perfect place to track. And Yes how could we forget the Indore Specialty, the Delicious food especially Poha which actually served as the cherry on the top, that went into making this

a truly memorable Meeting. From the day I have joined Leoisim, I have always heard if it is LEO CLUB OF INDORE then its always PERFECT and I am very glad that your honest efforts has proved the same.Again, I really cannot begin to express my admira-tion and gratitude for all your hard work and generosity in hosting one of the best

Meeting, in which I have ever participated. Thank you!!! Leo CA Rahul Jain - Multiple District Treasurer(323)
