Moved to Marketing in 1965 in Tacoma Building & then to the new Corporate headquarters building in Federal
Way when built
Retired from Weyerhaeuser in 1994 after purchasing Weyerhaeuser's Sensor & Simulation Products division with
three other former Weyerhaeuser colleagues, operating that company until his death in 2020.
Gary was always a selfless volunteer, whether he took his turn as Brad's Boy Scout Troop Committee Chairman
in 1969 (Gary never achieved Eagle Scout status as a teenager because his Scoutmaster wouldn't sign him off
thinking Gary was too young!); being the assistant coach for Karen's softball team in 1971; being the adult leader
for Eric's YMCA Indian Guides in 1971, tirelessly soliciting corporate donations for the Washington Childrens
Home Society in the '70's & '80's; being the Hoodsport Port Commissioner in the 2000's; to being the Chairman
of the Potlatch Beach Mutual Water Board the last fifteen years of his life.
May 7, 2011 Married Gregoriann Rochelle LeClere “Greg” Hanna (the widow of Gary's Phi Delt frat brother,
Jack Hanna - It was only fitting that Greg & Gary married since both Pat & Jack passed within same three month
period in 2007 - 2008 & especially since Pat, Gary, & Jack had been friends since their time at Whitman & Jack
introduced Greg to Pat & Gary in 1973! There were numerous ski trips & Amway Family Reunions in the last
thirty years of the twentieth century.
Gary was the son of Gunnar Carlberg, a Swedish immigrant, & Marie Anderson Carlberg, a first generation
Norwegian-American. (So, Gary loves pickled herring, lutefisk, lefsa, & Aquavit!)
Gary had one sibling, Russell Lyle Carlberg, currently living in Guam
Gary had three children; Brad Stephen Carlberg of Hoodsport/Richland, WA, Karen Troy Carlberg Pribnow &
Steven Ray Pribnow of Spanaway, WA, & Eric Daniel & Pam Carlberg of Livermore, CA; three grandchildren;
Bryan Christopher & Naylani Pribnow, of Olivia Beach, OR, Alyssa Marie Pribnow Bogh & Allen Bogh , of
Spanaway, WA, & Tyler Ross Carlberg (Gary's investment buddy, who passed in 2019...the result of a motorcycle
crash); & three great-grandchildren, Blayke Pribnow; and Aaden & Aleksander Bogh.
