Your questions aboutlegal careers, answered!

We are very pleased to welcome both law and non-law students interested in legal careers to this new and exciting networking event.

What is networking?Networking involves gathering information about career opportunities, and building your network of business contacts to increase your success in the job market.

These sessions will help you to understand what it’s like working for the firms attending and what they look for in new recruits. It’s also a chance to build relationships with key people in the firms.

What is speed networking?Speed networking gives you a chance to interact with colleagues and company representatives on a one-to-one basis within a set time limit.

You can discuss your degree or your career aspirations and give them an idea of who you are and what you hope to get out of your career. It’s also a great opportunity to find out what skills and experience their firm looks for and what makes a candidate stand out to them.

What happens at the speed networking sessions? There will be two speed networking sessions at 6.45pm and two at 7.30pm.*

• During one of these sessions, you will spend three or four minutes with a representative from each firm.

• You can ask questions that are important to you.• Learn what they are looking for in a candidate

and how you can build your skills and experience.

What happens at the general networking session? If you don’t wish to attend the speed networking sessions, or are unable to book a slot, you can attend the general networking session which will give you the chance to network with the company representatives over drinks and nibbles from 6.45pm until 8.30pm.

This part of the event is open to all students – you don’t have to have taken part in a speed networking session to attend.

How to bookLogin to My Career and book a slot on one of the speed networking sessions running at 6.45pm or 7.30pm.www.nottingham.ac.uk/careers/login

*You must book your place on one of the four sessions prior to the evening. Book early to avoid disappointment!

Be prepared…Make the most of this event by thinking about what you would like to find out from the firms and preparing your questions beforehand.
