1. CONDITIONS OF USEThis appliance is intended to be used inhousehold and similar applications suchas:• Farm Houses

• By clients in serviced apartments, holi-day apartments and other residentialtype environments

2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

In the interest of your safety and toensure the correct use, before instal-ling and first using the appliance, readthis user manual carefully, including itshints and warnings. To avoid unneces-sary mistakes and accidents, it is im-portant to ensure that all people usingthe appliance are thoroughly familiarwith its operation and safety features.Save these instructions and make surethat they remain with the appliance ifit is moved or sold, so that everyoneusing it through its life will be proper-ly informed on appliance use and safe-ty.

2.1 General safety• It is dangerous to alter the specifica-

tions or attempt to modify this prod-uct in any way.

• This appliance is not intended for useby persons (including children) with re-duced physical, sensory or mental ca-pabilities, or lack of experience andknowledge, unless they have been giv-en supervision or instruction concern-ing use of the appliance by a personresponsible for their safety.

• Make sure that small children and petsdo not climb inside the drum. Toavoid this, please check into the drumbefore using.

• Any objects such as coins, safety pins,nails, screws, stones or any other hard,sharp material can cause extensivedamage and must not be placed intothe machine.

• Items such as foam rubber (latexfoam), shower caps, waterproof tex-tiles (if there is no special drying pro-gramme), rubber backed articles andclothes or pillows fitted with foam rub-ber pads must not be dried in thetumble dryer.

• Make sure that there is access to themains plug after the installation.

• Always unplug the appliance after use,cleaning and maintenance.

• Under no circumstances should youattempt to repair the machine your-self. Repairs carried out by inexper-ienced persons may cause injury or se-rious malfunctioning. Contact your lo-cal Service Centre. Always insist ongenuine spare parts.

• Items that have been soiled with sub-stances such as cooking oil, acetone,petrol, kerosene, spot removers, tur-pentine, waxes and wax removersshould be washed in hot water with anextra amount of detergent before be-ing dried in the tumble dryer.

• Danger of explosion: Never tumbledry items that have been in contactwith inflammable solvents (petrol, me-thylated spirits, dry cleaning fluid andthe like). As these substances are vola-tile, they could cause an explosion.Only tumble dry items washed withwater.

• Risk of fire: items that have beenspotted or soaked with vegetable orcooking oil constitute a fire hazardand should not be placed in the tum-ble dryer.

• If you have washed your laundry withstain remover you must execute an ex-tra rinse cycle before loading yourtumble dryer.

• Please make sure that no gas lightersor matches have accidentally been leftin pockets of garments in case theyare loaded into the appliance

• The condensed water is not suitableto drink or to prepare food. It cancause health problems to people andpets.

• Do not sit or lean on the load door.The appliance can tilt.

WARNING!• Risk of fire! To prevent from

the risk of self combustiondo not stop a tumble dryerbefore the end of the dryingcycle unless all items arequickly removed and spreadout so that the heat is dissi-pated.

• Lint must not be allowed toaccumulate around the tum-ble dryer.

• Risk of electric shock! Do not spraydown the appliance with jets of water.

• The final part of a tumble dryer cycleoccurs without heat ( cool down cycle )to ensure that the items are left at atemperature that ensures that itemswill not be damaged.

• The tumble dryer is not to be used ifindustrial chemicals have been usedfor cleaning.

• Ensure you have good ventilation inthe installation room to avoid the backflow of gases into the room from ap-pliances burning other fuels, includingopen fires.

• Oil-affected items can ignite sponta-neously, especially when exposed toheat sources such as in a tumble dryer.The items become warm, causing anoxidation reaction in the oil. Oxidationcreates heat. If the heat cannot es-cape, the items can become hotenough to catch fire. Piling, stackingor storing oil-affected items can pre-vent heat from escaping and so createa fire hazard.

• If it is unavoidable that fabrics thatcontain vegetable or cooking oil orhave been contaminated by hair careproducts be placed in a tumble dryerthey should first be washed in hot wa-

ter with extra detergent - this will re-duce, but not eliminate, the hazard.

2.2 Installation• This appliance is heavy. Be careful

when you move the appliance.• When unpacking the appliance, check

that it is not damaged. If in doubt, donot use it and contact the ServiceCentre.

• All packaging must be removed be-fore use. Dangerous damage can oc-cur to the product and to property ifthis is not adhered to. See relevantsection in the user manual.

• Any electrical work necessary to installthis appliance must be done by aqualified electrician or competent per-son.

• The rear surface of the appliance mustbe put against the wall

• If the appliance is installed on the car-pet or equivalent, adjust the feet. Airmust flow freely below the appliance.

• After the appliance installation, checkthat the electrical supply cord is notcaught under or behind the dryer.

• If the tumble dryer is put on top of awashing machine, it is mandatory touse the stacking kit (optional accesso-ry - see chapter: "ACCESSORIES").

2.3 Use• This appliance is for domestic use on-

ly. It must not be used for other func-tions .

• Only dry fabrics which are applicableto dry in the tumble dryer. Follow theinstructions on each piece of clothinglabel.

• Do not dry unwashed items in thetumble dryer.

• Do not put more load than recom-mended. Obey the maximum load vol-ume. See the related chapter in theuser manual.

• Clothes which are dripping wet mustnot be put in the tumble dryer.

• Garments which have been in contactwith volatile petroleum productsshould not be machine dried. If vola-tile cleaning fluids are used, careshould be taken to ensure that the flu-

id is removed from the garment be-fore placing in the appliance.

• Do not use the tumble dryer if thepower supply cable, the control panel,the working surface or the base aredamaged so that the inside of thetumble dryer is accessible.

• Fabric softener or equivalent productsmust be used as specified by the fab-ric softener manufacturer.

• Risk of fire! Do not dry damaged itemswhich contain padding or fillings (pil-lows, jackets, duvets, etc.). The pad-ding or fillings can be exposed andcause a fire.

2.4 Child safety• This machine is not intended for use

by young children or infirm personswithout supervision.

• Children often do not recognise thehazards associated with electrical ap-pliances. Children should be super-vised to ensure that they do not playwith the appliance.

WARNING!• Danger of suffocation! The

packaging components (e.g.plastic film, polystyrene) canbe dangerous to children -Keep them out of children’sreach.

• Keep all detergents in a safe place outof children’s reach.

• Make sure that children or pets do notclimb inside the drum.

2.5 Discard the appliance• Disconnect the mains plug from the

mains socket.• Cut off the mains cable and discard it.• Discard the door catch. This prevents

children or pets to be closed in theappliance. There is a risk of suffoca-tion.

4. ACCESSORIES

4.1 Stacking kit

Accessory name: SKP11, STA8, STA9Available from your authorized vendor.Stacking kit can be used only with thewashing machines specified in the leaf-let. See the leaflet attached.Read carefully the instructions suppliedwith the accessory.

4.2 Draining kit

Product name: DK11.Available from your authorized dealer

Installation kit for draining of the con-densed water into a basin, siphon, gully,etc. After installation the water containeris drained automatically. The water con-tainer must stay in the appliance.Installed hose must be a minimum of50cm to a maximum of 1 m from floorlevel. The hose cannot be in loop. If pos-sible decrease the length of the hose.Read carefully the instructions suppliedwith the kit.

4.3 Pedestal with the drawer

Accessory name: PDSTP10.It is available from your authorized ven-dor.To put the appliance higher at the levelwhich helps to easy load and remove thelaundry.The drawer can be used for laundry stor-age e.g. : towels, cleaning products andmore.Read carefully the instructions suppliedwith the accessory.

8. USING THE APPLIANCE

8.1 Preparing the laundryDry only the laundry applicableto dry in this tumble dryer. Makesure the laundry is able to bedried in this tumble dryer. Checkthe fabric mark on the clothing.

How to correctly prepare the laundry:

• close zips, button up duvet covers andattach loose ties or ribbons (e.g. rib-bons of aprons) - laundry can tangle

• make sure the pockets are empty - re-move metal items (paper clips, safetypins, etc.).

• turn items with 2 fabric layers insideout (e.g. cotton lined anoraks, the cot-ton fabric layer must be external).

8.2 Loading the laundry

1. Pull the appliance door open2. Load laundry loosely3. Close the appliance door.

CAUTION!Do not lock the laundry in be-tween the appliance door andrubber seal.

8.3 Switching on the appliancePush the On/Off button to activate or todeactivate the appliance. When the ap-pliance is on, some indications come into the view on the display.

8.4 Auto Off functionTo decrease the energy consumption,the automatic stand-by function deacti-vates the appliance:• if the Start/Pause button was not

pushed in the time of 5 minutes.• after 5 minutes from the programme

end.Push the On/Off button to activate theappliance.

8.5 Setting a programme

Use the programme dial to set the pro-gramme. The possible time to completethe program will be shown on the dis-play.

The drying time you see is rela-ted to the load of 5 kg for cottonand jeans programmes. For theother programmes the dryingtime is related to the recommen-ded loads. The drying time of thecotton and jeans programmeswith the load more than 5 kg islonger.

8.6 Special functionsTogether with the programme you canset 1 or more special functions.To activate or deactivate the functionpush the applicable push button.

When the function is activated the LEDabove the push button or symbol on thedisplay comes into view.

8.7 The Dry Plus functionThis function helps achieve dryer laun-dry. There are 3 possible selections:

- the default selection which is rela-ted to the programme.

— to get light dryness of laundry — choose this selection to get max-

imum dryness of clothes.

8.8 The Delicate functionTo dry more lightly, delicate and tem-perature sensitive textiles (e.g. acrylic,viscose). For fabrics with the symbol on the fabric label. Programme operateswith decreased heat.

8.9 The Anticrease functionExtends anticrease phase (30 minutes) atthe end of the drying cycle to 90 mi-nutes. This function prevents laundryfrom creases. Laundry can be removedduring the anticrease phase.

8.10 The Buzzer functionWhen the buzzer function is activatedyou can hear the buzzer at the:• cycle end• anti-crease phase start and end• cycle interruptionThe buzzer function is by default alwayson. You can use this function to activateor deactivate the sound.

8.11 The Time Drying functionOperates only with the Time pro-gramme. Lets the user set specific dryingprograms from 10 minutes to 2 hours in10 minute incremental steps.

8.12 The Delay Start functionAllows the delay of drying pro-grams from a minimum of 30 mi-nutes to a maximum of 20 hours.

1. Set the drying programme and func-tions.

2. Push the Dealy start button repea-tadly until the required time is shownon the display (e.g. if the pro-gramme has to start after 12 hours.)

3. To activate the Delay start function,push the Start/Pause button. Thetime to start decreases on the dis-play.

8.13 Child lock functionThe child lock can be set to prevent chil-dren accidently setting a program. Thechild lock function locks all push buttonsand the programme dial (this functiondoes not lock On/Off button). To acti-vate the child lock function push the DryPlus and Delicate buttons at the sametime until the symbol comes into viewon the display. To deactivate push againthe above buttons until the symbol goesout of view.You can activate the child lock function:• before you push the Start/Pause but-

ton - the appliance cannot start• after you push the Start/Pause button

- all the push buttons and the pro-gramme dial are deactivated

8.14 Starting a programme

To activate the programme push theStart/Pause button. The LED above thepush button changes the colour to red.

8.15 Change a programmeTo change a programme, push the On/Off button to deactivate appliance. Push

the On/Off to activate the appliance andthen set the programme again.

8.16 At the end of programmeWhen the drying cycle is completed, the

symbol flashes on the display. If theBuzzer function is on, an acoustic signalsounds intermittently for one minute.To remove the laundry:1. Push the On/Off button for 2 sec-

onds to deactivate the appliance.

2. Open the appliance door.3. Remove the laundry.4. Close the appliance door.

After each drying cycle:

• clean the filter• drain the water container(See chapter CARE AND CLEANING.)

9. HINTS AND TIPS

9.1 Ecological hints• Do not use fabric softener to wash and

then dry. In the tumble dryer laundrybecomes soft automatically.

• Use the condensate as distilled water,e.g. for steam ironing. If necessaryclean the condensate before (e.g. witha coffee filter) to remove possiblesmall pieces of fluff.

• Always keep the airflow slots on thebottom of the appliance clear.

• Use the load volumes specified in theprogrammes chapter.

• Make sure there is good air flow inand around the appliance position.

• Clean the filter after each drying cycle.• Ensure clothes are spun well in the

washing machine before putting themin the dryer.

9.3 Water hardness andconductivityWater hardness can be different for dif-ferent locations. Water hardness has aneffect on the water conductivity and theoperation of the conductivity sensor inthe appliance. If you know the value ofthe water conductivity you can adjust thesensor to dry with the better results.To change the sensor conductivity:1. Turn the programme dial to availa-

ble programme.2. Push at the same time the Dry Plus

and the Anticrease buttons. Holddown until one of the symbols go in-to view on the display:– low conductivity <300 μS/

cm– moderate conductivity

300-600 μS/cm– high conductivity >600

μS/cm3. Push the Start Pause button again

and again until you set necessarylevel.

4. To memorise this setting push thesame two buttons as specified inpoint 2.

9.4 Water container full —indicationBy default the indication LED is alwayson. It comes into the view at the end ofthe cycle or when the water container isfull. When you use an external equip-ment to drain the container, the LED canbe off.

To activate or deactivate the indication:1. Turn the programme dial to availa-

ble programme.2. Push at the same time the Dry Plus

and Buzzer buttons and hold downuntil you see the correct setting:– the LED is off and the symbol

goes into the view - TheLED is permantly off

– the LED is on and the symbol goes into the view - The

LED is activated

10. CARE AND CLEANING

10.1 Cleaning the filterAt the end of each cycle the filter LED ison to tell you that the filter must becleaned.

The filter collects the fluff. Thefluff occurs while the clothes aredried in the tumble dryer.

To clean the filter:

1. Open the door.

2. pull the filter up.

3. Open the filter.

4. Use a moist hand to clean the filter.

5. If necessary clean the filter withwarm water using a brush.Close the filter.

6. Remove fluff from the filter socket.For this a vacuum cleaner can beused.

7. Put the filter inside the filter socket.

CAUTION!Do not operate the tumble dryerwithout the filter or with a dam-aged or blocked filter.

Clean the filter after each dryingcycle. A clogged filter increasesthe cycle time and causes higherenergy consumption.

10.2 Draining the watercontainerDrain the water container after each dry-ing cycle.

If the water container is full, the pro-gramme breaks off automatically and thedrain container LED is on. To continuethe programme, drain the water contain-er and press the start button.

To drain the water container au-tomatically you can install drain-ing accessory (see chapter: AC-CESSORIES)

To drain the water container:

1. Pull the water container.

2. Move the water container in a hori-zontal position. Water will flow outthe top opening if not kept horizon-tal.

3. Move the plastic connection out anddrain the water container into a sinkor equivalent receptacle.

4. Move plastic connection in and in-stall water container.

WARNING!Risk of poisoning. The con-densed water is not applicable todrink or to prepare food.

The condensed water can beused as distilled water, e.g. forsteam ironing. If necessary filterthe condensed water (e.g. with acoffee filter) to remove possibleresidue and small pieces of fluff.

10.3 Cleaning the condenserIf the condenser LED is on, the condens-er must be cleaned.

To clean the condenser:

1. Open the loading door.

2. Move the release button on the bot-tom of the door opening and openthe condenser door.

3. Turn the 2 locks to unlock the con-denser lid.

4. Lower the condenser lid.

5. Catch the handle and pull the con-denser out from the bottom com-partment. Move condenser horizon-tally to prevent remaining waterspilling.

6. Clean the condenser in vertical posi-tion over a basin. Rinse through witha hand shower.

7. Clean the condenser filter. Rinsethrough with a hand shower.

8. Put the condenser back inside thebottom compartment.

9. Close the condenser lid.

10. Lock the 2 locks until they snap.

11. Close the condenser door.

CAUTION!Do not operate the tumble dryerwhen the condenser is blockedwith fluff. This could cause dam-age to the tumble dryer. 10.4 Cleaning the drumWARNING!Disconnect the appliance beforeyou clean it.

Use a standard neutral soap detergentto clean the inner surface of the drum

and drum ribs. Dry the cleaned surfaceswith a soft cloth.

CAUTION!Do not use abrasive materials orsteel wool to clean the drum.

10.5 Cleaning the controlpanel and housingUse a standard soap detergent to cleanthe control panel and housing.Use a moist cloth to clean. Dry thecleaned surfaces with a soft cloth.

CAUTION!Do not use furniture cleaningagents or cleaning agents whichcan cause corrosion to clean theappliance.

13. INSTALLATION

13.1 Appliance positioning• The tumble dryer must be installed in

a clean position, where dirt does notcollect.

• Air must flow freely around the appli-ance. Make sure that the front airflow

slots in the bottom of the applianceare not blocked .

• To keep vibration and noise at theminimum, when the tumble dryer op-erates, it must be put on a stable andflat surface.

• When the appliance is put in its per-manent position, check it is fully levelwith the aid of a spirit level. If it is not,adjust the feet until it is.

• Do not remove the feet. Do not de-crease the floor clearance throughthick carpets, plank of wood or pieceof wood. This can increase the heatwhich can cause interference with theoperation of the appliance.

• The temperature of the hot airinsde the tumble dryer can ex-ceed 60 °C. The appliancemust not be installed on thefloor which is not resistant tohigh temperatures.

• When the tumble dryer oper-ates, the room temperaturemust not be lower than +5 °Cand higher than +35 °C. Thiscan cause unwanted effect onthe performance of the appli-ance.

• If it is necessary to move theappliance, it must be movedvertically.

• The appliance must not be in-stalled behind a lockable door,a sliding door, a door with ahinge on the opposite side tothat of the appliance in such away that a full opening of thetumble dryer is restricted.

It is possible to adjust the height of thetumble dryer. To do that adjust the feet(see picture).

13.2 UnpackingCAUTION!

Before use all parts of the transportpackaging must be removed.To remove the polystyrene blockages:1. Open the load door.2. Pull plastic hose with the polystyrene

blockages out from the drum.

13.4 The load door reversalThe load door can be installed by theuser in the opposite side. It can help toeasily put and remove the laundry or ifthere is a limit to install the appliance.(see separate leaflet).

13.5 Electrical connection• Connect the machine to an earthed

• Make sure that the electrical data onthe rating plate agrees with the powersupply.

g) ‘Warranty Period’ means:– where the Appliance is used

for personal, domestic orhousehold use (i.e. normal sin-gle family use) as set out in theinstruction manual, the Appli-

ance is warranted against man-ufacturing defects in Australiaand New Zealand for 60months, following the date oforiginal purchase of the Appli-ance;

– this Appliance is not designedfor commercial use and there-fore no warranty applies in thiscase;

h) ‘you’ means the purchaser of theAppliance not having purchasedthe Appliance for re-sale, and‘your’ has a corresponding mean-ing.

2. This warranty only applies to Appli-ances purchased and used in Aus-tralia or New Zealand and is in addi-tion to (and does not exclude, re-strict, or modify in any way) any non-excludable statutory warranties inAustralia or New Zealand.

3. During the Warranty Period AEG orits ASC will, at no extra charge ifyour Appliance is readily accessiblefor service, without special equip-ment and subject to these terms andconditions, repair or replace anyparts which it considers to be defec-tive. AEG or its ASC may use rema-nufactured parts to repair your Ap-pliance. You agree that any replacedAppliances or parts become theproperty of AEG. This warranty doesnot apply to light globes, batteries,filters or similar perishable parts.

4. Parts and Appliances not suppliedby AEG are not covered by this war-ranty.

5. You will bear the cost of transporta-tion, travel and delivery of the Appli-ance to and from AEG or its ASC. Ifyou reside outside of the servicearea, you will bear the cost of:

b) transportation and delivery of theAppliance to and from AEG or itsASC,

In all instances, unless the Applianceis transported by AEG or an AEG au-thorised representative, the Appli-ance is transported at the owner’scost and risk while in transit to andfrom AEG or its ASC.

6. Proof of purchase is required beforeyou can make a claim under this war-ranty.

7. You may not make a claim under thiswarranty unless the defect claimed isdue to faulty or defective parts orworkmanship. AEG is not liable inthe following situations (which arenot exhaustive):a) the Appliance is damaged by:

– accident– misuse or abuse, including fail-

ure to properly maintain orservice

– normal wear and tear– power surges, electrical storm

damage or incorrect powersupply

– incomplete or improper instal-lation

– incorrect, improper or inappro-priate operation

– insect or vermin infestation– failure to comply with any ad-

ditional instructions suppliedwith the Appliance;

b) the Appliance is modified with-out authority from AEG in writ-ing;

c) the Appliance’s serial number orwarranty seal has been removedor defaced;

d) the Appliance was serviced or re-paired by anyone other thanAEG, an authorised repairer orASC.

8. This warranty, the contract to whichit relates and the relationship be-tween you and AEG are governedby the law applicable where the Ap-pliance was purchased. Where theAppliance was purchased in NewZealand for business purposes the

Consumer Guarantee Act does notapply.

9. To the extent permitted by law, AEGexcludes all warranties and liabilities(other than as contained in thisdocument) including liability for anyloss or damage whether direct or in-direct arising from your purchase,use or non use of the Appliance.

10. For Appliances and services provi-ded by AEG in Australia, the Appli-ances come with a guarantee byAEG that cannot be excluded underthe Australian Consumer Law. Youare entitled to a replacement or re-fund for a major failure and for com-pensation for any other reasonablyforeseeable loss or damage. You arealso entitled to have the Appliancerepaired or replaced if the Appliancefails to be of acceptable quality andthe failure does not amount to a ma-jor failure. The benefits to you givenby this warranty are in addition toyour other rights and remedies un-der a law in relation to the Applian-ces or services to which the warrantyrelates.

11. At all times during the Warranty Peri-od, AEG shall, at its discretion, de-termine whether repair, replacementor refund will apply if an Appliancehas a valid warranty claim applicableto it.

12. For Appliances and services provi-ded by AEG in New Zealand, theAppliances come with a guaranteeby AEG pursuant to the provisions ofthe Consumer Guarantees Act, theSale of Goods Act and the Fair Trad-ing Act.
