The artist is the main feature of the album front cover, shown in neutral colours, black and white. Although her dress is quite animated it is combined with abstract art on other panels such as the back. This reflects the music inside which is about loss, past love and family, which would relate to this genre of music, in the sense that its about the world and the environment in which we live.

Although the artist is the main feature on the front cover, the fact that she is in the third sector of the panel in a medium close up shows that she is more about the music rather than selling her, she is there to establish herself. This is common of the folk genre as the music is more important than the celebrity icon side of the music industry, unlike mainstream pop. Also the fact that she is looking out of the shot further shows that she about the music than selling the artist because she is not engaging with the audience through eye contact.

The use of abstract art could signify the artist and her personality as a creative, original and independent thinker. Art is a common feature across her album covers including ‘Alas cannot swim’. It also reflects and connects with her audience who follow the folk genre of music, young adults and teenage festival - goers.

Her costume is very much reflective of current trends and is similar to what her target audience would wear. It’s a simple bohemian inspired look in terms of haircut and a tank top. However her outfit has been kept quite simple in keeping with the rest of her digipak and again to not focus solely on her but her music.

The colours on the digipak have been kept simple and sophisticated in order to reflect the serious message and album title ‘I speak because I can’. The target audience of young adults and teenage festival goers are reflected through this because they are young, creative and are using new art forms and media to express themselves and change the world around them. Many Digipak’s within the folk and rock genre keep to a few colours rather than a pop art, rainbow style of some mainstream artists.
