Launching of Allan Saha Ice Devivaru Deyyoth Danne ne (God also don't know) the comedy play featur- ing Wijaya Nandasiri and directed by well versed cinema, television and stage actor, Sarath Kulanga and Prasanna Vithanage's new pro- duction of nobel prize winner Dario fo's Political Farce,'Debiddo' will go on boards at tower hall theatre, Maradana on March 3 and 4 respectively at 3.30 and 6.45 pm. Deyyoth Danne ne features a host of popular actors such as Kumara Thirimadura, Ananda Athukorala, Sadda Uthpalakandage, Thushari Gunarathne, Tharaka Upendra, Bandula Fonseka, Sudarshana Krishantha, Dumin- da Sandaruwan. Art direction by Jagath Padmasiri and stage lighting by Upali Weerasinghe. Acting motions will be by Sadda Uthpalakandage while Nirmani Pra- bashwari and Jagath Padmasiri have added more to the drama by their costume designing. Deyyoth Danne ne is written by Ajith Mandis with Sarath Kulanga's music com- position, Sandasiri Adhikari's music direction and bandula Fonseka's stage man- agement. (Run- ning Time: 80 minutes) Errol Morris’s delightfully bizarre film tells the story of four extraordinary people and their careers. A topiary gardener, a lion tamer, a mole-rat expert and a robotics expert all tell their stories as Morris’s probing camera and restless imagination lead us towards revela- tions about the human character and perhaps the destiny of mankind. Seating is limited and is first-come, first-served. Les Amants du Pont-Neuf The movie, Les Amants du Pont- Neuf (The Lovers on the Bridge) (1991) by Leos Carax will be screened on Tuesday, February 28 at 3pm and Wednesday, February 29 at 6.30pm at Alliance Française de Colombo,11, Barnes Place, Colombo 7. Alex, a circus performer addicted to alcohol and sedatives and Michele, a painter driven to a life on the streets because of a failed relationship and an affliction which is slowly turning her blind. The film portrays the harsh existence of the homeless as Alex, Michele and Hans, an older vagrant sur- viving on the streets with their wits. As they both slowly get their lives back together, with Michele increasingly dependent on Alex as her vision deteriorates by and by. Fearing that Michele will leave him if she receives a new medical treatment, Alex attempts to keep Michele practically a prisoner… The movie is most suitable for mature audience and is subtitled in English. A Separation A Separation (2011) by Asghar Farhadi will be screened on February 29 at 5.30 pm at the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES) Auditorium,2,Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8. A Separation is a 2011 Iranian drama film written and directed Asghar Farhadi, starring Leila Hatami and Peyman Moaadi. It begins with a mar- ried middle-class couple – Simin (Leila Hatman) and Nader (Peyman Maadi) – pleading with a judge to be divorced: she wants to leave the country with their daughter Termeh , while her husband wishes to stay in order to look after his father who has Alzheimer’s. They fail and decide to separate with Simin moving out. Winner of numerous awards at last year’s Berlin Film Festival, Asghar Farha- di’s A Seperation is a sophisticated, superbly acted and wholly gripping portrait of modern Iran. The film has been nominated for this year’s Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Aroos (The Bride) Aroos (The Bride) (1991) by Blehruvoz Afkhami will be screened on February 29 at 5.30 pm at the auditorium of the Cul- tural Secvtion,Embassy of Iran,06,Sir Ernest de Silva Mawa- tha, Colombo 7. (Running Time: 90 minutes) Aroos is the story of a young man who is forced into illicit business in order to accumulate enough wealth to marry his beautiful sweetheart. While driving to their honeymoon he runs over a villager; because of his refusal to help the victim his wife leaves him. Influenced by the goodness of his bride and devastated by loss of his marriage, he returns repent- ant to face the consequences of his actions and to pay for his crimes. Launching of Allan Saha Ice Devivaru
