Quick Start Guide

Are you new to Mathletics? This quick and easy lesson plan is designed to help you successfully launch Mathletics with your class. Each student should have access to a computer, or at least shared access. A typical lesson using Mathletics runs for 40–60 minutes, however the suggested time frames for each step may be altered to suit your lesson.

5 MINSSign in and create avatars in Facemaker.

20 MINSMove on to the Mathletics Curriculum

10 MINSPlay Live Mathletics

5 MINSRound off with Live Mathletics

After signing in each student will be asked to create their avatar to represent themselves on screen. Remember to select ‘Save and Exit’ when done.

Located in the centre of the student console, the (default) curriculum activities are aligned to the provincial curriculum of the user. (Audio is available in the first four grades.)Results of >85% are recorded as gold bars and students should be encouraged to collect as many as they can.

Students play against other students from around the world (or even their own school or class) in a 60-second mental arithmetic game. Points are awarded for each question correctly answered

A fantastic way to reward fast finishers and to close off the lesson is to let students play Live Mathletics. This is a hugely powerful tool for increasing mental agility and automacy across a range of concepts.

Mathletics has joined forces with our friends at Desmos to bring a groundbreaking new interactive graphing calculator right into the student console.

The Mathletics Calculator opens up huge opportunities for extension activities, collaborative projects and student exploration – using expressions and equations to create pictures, involving dozens

(sometimes hundreds!) of equations. Here are some of our favourites…

Say goodbye to that old graphing calculator...

Say hello to the Mathletics calculator.

Powered by Desmos and available within the Mathletics High School Student console. Simply type your expression and the calculator will immediately draw your graph on screen. Graph with unlimited expressions and equations, plus add variables with interactive sliders. Dozens of functions supported. Add data tables, lists and statistics for unlimited teaching and learning variations.

Go further. Get creative.

Explore the Mathletics Calculator in your school today.
