Latvian YoutHeroes received certificates for successful completion of Youth
Work HD course
The project “Youth work HD" multiplier event "Work with
Youth: Opportunities, Priorities and Challenges" organized by
the Latvian Information and Communication Technology
Association (LIKTA) took place on August 22, 2018, in
Zemgale Region Human Resource and Competence
development Center (ZRKAC) in Jelgava, Latvia.
The event was attended by 50 participants who work with
young people on a daily basis: local government leaders,
youth workers, educational management specialists, university
lecturers, NGO leaders, career counsellors, librarians and other
participants interested in youth work.
The “Youth Work HD” objectives, progress and achieved results were presented. Experts Līga Damberga and
Arnita Vaitkus spoke about the curriculum, methodology and the online course developed within the project
“Youth Work HD”. Themes such as youth media literacy, the challenges of online work with young people in the
information age, as well as the use of games in youth education, for keeping interest and the development of
communication skills were discussed as well.

YW HD Product for Lithuanian Youth Workers
Last week Youth Work HD partner „Langas į ateitį“ was
invited to meet Jonas Laniauskas, the director of the
Lithuanian Department of Youth Affairs. During the
meeting project goals and products were introduced as
well as a number of questions answered. As The
Lithuanian Department of Youth Affairs is involved in the
formation of youth policy in the country, including youth
worker‘s certification, the future possibility to use YW HD
product (4 modules online) was discussed. It was agreed
to cooperate as youth worker‘s certification system in
Lithuania is in the development stage and training materials
are in great need.
European Solidarity Corps: The Commission publishes a new call for proposals
The European Commission invites stakeholders to present project ideas within the European
Solidarity Body. A total of EUR 44 million from the Union budget has been earmarked for selected
projects that will be open to all young people in Europe and beyond. This is the first of a series of
invitations that will allow at least 100,000 young people to be part of the Corps from now until the
end of 2020.
