Purpose of the NEVIL Allied Health Development Program

1. To ensure that allied health staff, particularly those in their first two years of work in the public mental health sector, are provided with appropriate training related to mental health.

2. To supplement the online training available through MHPOD.

Development Training Program

• Presenters need to be aware the content of the MHPOD sessions and use this to inform the training they present.

• The training should provide a brief overview of their topic, however focus on, reflective, integrative, experiential and practical learning opportunities that are not provided through the online training.

This Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) workshop is intended to

introduce a range of health professionals & providers to the core concepts and applications

of the Trauma Center at JRI's (Founder Dr. Bessel van der Kolk & Director of Yoga

Services David Emerson, USA) evidence-based (NREPP-SAMHSA endorsed), adjunctive

clinical treatment, TCTSY

'TCTSY is a psychosocial intervention incorporating

yoga principles and practices for adults (& youth)

affected by traumatic stress, PTSD, CPTSD,

dissociative disorders, and other related emotional

and behavioural problems. TCTSY can be

implemented (by yoga teachers or mental health

professionals) as group therapy, as a component-

based intervention, and in the context of individual

Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an empirically validated adjunctive clinical

treatment for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD, developed at the Trauma

Center in Brookline, Massachusetts. TSY has foundations in both Trauma Theory (including

Attachment Theory and Neuroscience) and the Hatha Yoga tradition with an emphasis on body-

based yoga forms and breathing practices. TCTSY is listed as an evidence-based practice and

program on the official registry in the USA, NREPP-SAMSHA -CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS.

Training offerings from the Trauma Center at JRI (MA, USA) and the TCTSY Training Faculty, include:

A 7-month certification program for Yoga Teachers and/or Mental Health Career Professionals,

which will be held in Melbourne, Australia, Germany & Boston, USA and via online learning

Training offerings from the Trauma Center at JRI (MA, USA) and the TCTSY Training Faculty in

Australasia - TCTSY Australia (Kristen Pringle, Victorian Director) - include:

Open-registration workshop offerings for mental health professionals and/or Yoga teachers (posted

as available on the Trauma Center website, at

http://www.traumacenter.org/training/workshops.php ). And a number of training options tailored

to the needs of yoga studios and provider agencies. Packages include the following:

1) A 2.5 day training program designed to be applicable for both yoga instructors and clinicians

wishing to integrate TCTSY into their practice. This program is tailored to support fiscal access to this

program for community providers and yoga instructors, and requires the commitment of a yoga

studio able to sponsor and organize an open-registration workshop.

2) A 2.5 day training program for provider agencies (clinicians, affiliate clinical providers) who wish

to incorporate TCTSY into ongoing practice. This program includes intensive training on-site for your

agency, and can, at the agency’s discretion, include follow-up consultation provided in-person (for

local agencies) or via video.

3) A consultation-based training program which offers a more flexible / less intense approach to

integrating TCTSY into agencies. This program can be tailored to meet agency needs and may involve

the following, as delivered at the Trauma Center at JRI: Bi-weekly consultation and brief training for

a period of 3 months, followed by monthly consultation. Consultation may be remote (via video) or
