If you want to have a day that involves all kinds of art and architecture and home decor then mark your calendars for Saturday, May 21st when the Larson Gallery Guild presents the 17th Annual Tour of Arsts’ Homes & Studios. Some folks in Yakima make this Tour an annual event because for only $20 they can see the homes of six arsts and collectors and get to see the many talents of arsts in our valley. That will be especially true this year because the Tour includes lots of surprises. If you’ve always wanted to see a turn of the century barn, this is your year to have access to the “Happy Hen Barn”, a one of a kind playground for kids of all ages. The barn was built by Peg Granio’s great-grandfather, Charles Russell, in 1910, but the years had taken their toll. Andy and Peg Granio decided they wanted to restore the barn and, more importantly, they wanted the barn as the desnaon for their wedding and their “happy place” was born. You will not believe what they have in that barn. Also at the “Happy Hen Ranch” will be Curt Rosenkranz, a Vikingsmith metalworker who will be demonstrang his blacksmith skills and creavity. If you’re interested in photography, Jennifer Noel whose work has appeared most recently in the Yakima magazine, will be there with her work as will Andy Behrle who will create a light installaon tled “Barn Quilt”. Hungry? Sammie’s Souper Sandwiches will be on site. Carol De Grave has graciously opened both her home and studio to the public. Both are built by Carol and her partner, Bruce Barnes, out of mud bricks and stucco. They even gathered Lallas from the forest near White Pass to fashion the ceiling in her studio. Both home and studio are works of art in a seng that will take your breath away. In addion to Carol and her ceramics, Sue Grimshaw, Kae Hall and Debbie Sundlee will also be offering their most recent works to the public to admire or purchase. Penn O. Shelton, well known oil and acrylic painter, is opening her home, which is also her studio, to the public and she has invited Michelle Wyles to show her ceramics and Carol Von Stubbe to show her collage work. And, of course, we wouldn’t be the Larson Home Tour without Leo Adams who has many arsts showing their work like Karen Quint, Jane Gung, Jennifer Finch, Ann Bowker, Richard Nicksic and Cheryl LaFlamme, and Greg Pierce. Leo has been working most recently with collage that sll captures his connecon to the natural world. One of the fun surprises this year is Raul Hernandez who is a folk arst who captures the colorful influence of Mexico in his painted chairs and other art. Raul is also a member of a well know Mariachi Band that has agreed to play at 3:00 at his home on the day of the tour. Yesenia Hunter will be showing her work and there is even a chance that her husband James may provide musical entertainment. And finally, don’t miss the home of Wilma Dulin, a respected member of YVCC who has been making quilts and other tempng items out of cloth for years. She has invited a whole slew of YVCC Art teachers to show their speciales at her home this year. Expect Rachel Dorn, David Lynx, Jennifer Saracino, John Bisonee, Timm Wauzynski, and Jusn Marn. If you want to have a day that involves all kinds of art and architecture and home decor then mark your calendars for Saturday, May 21st when the Larson Gallery Guild presents the 17th Annual Tour of Artists’ Homes & Studios.

Some folks in Yakima make this Tour an annual event because for only $20 they can see the homes of six artists and collectors and get to see the many talents of artists in our valley. That will be especially true this year because the Tour includes lots of surprises.

If you’ve always wanted to see a turn of the century barn, this is your year to have access to the “Happy Hen Barn”, a one of a kind playground for kids of all ages. The barn was built by Peg Granitto’s great-grandfather, Charles Russell, in 1910, but the years had taken their toll. Andy and Peg Granitto decided they wanted to restore the barn and, more importantly, they wanted the barn as the destination for their wedding and their “happy place” was born. You will not believe what they have in that barn.

Also at the “Happy Hen Ranch” will be Curt Rosenkranz, a Vikingsmith metalworker who will be demonstrating his blacksmith skills and creativity. If you’re interested in photography, Jennifer Noel whose work has appeared most recently in the Yakima magazine, will be there with her work as will Andy Behrle who will create a light installation titled “Barn Quilt”. Hungry? Sammie’s Souper Sandwiches will be on site.

Carol De Grave has graciously opened both her home and studio to the public. Both are built by Carol and her partner, Bruce Barnes, out of mud bricks and stucco. They even

gathered Latillas from the forest near White Pass to fashion the ceiling in her studio. Both home and studio are works of art in a setting that will take your breath away. In addition to Carol and her ceramics, Sue Grimshaw, Katie Hall and Debbie Sundlee will also be offering their most recent works to the public to admire or purchase.

Penn O. Shelton, well known oil and acrylic painter, is opening her home, which is also her studio, to the public and she has invited Michelle Wyles to show her ceramics and Carol Von Stubbe to show her collage work.

And, of course, we wouldn’t be the Larson Home Tour without Leo Adams who has many artists showing their work like Karen Quint, Jane Gutting, Jennifer Finch, Ann Bowker, Richard Nicksic and Cheryl LaFlamme, and Greg Pierce. Leo has been working most recently with collage that still captures his connection to the natural world.

One of the fun surprises this year is Raul Hernandez who is a folk artist who captures the colorful influence of Mexico in his painted chairs and other art. Raul is also a member of a well know Mariachi Band that has agreed to play at 3:00 at his home on the day of the tour. Yesenia Hunter will be showing her work and there is even a chance that her husband James may provide musical entertainment.

And finally, don’t miss the home of Wilma Dulin, a respected member of YVCC who has been making quilts and other tempting items out of cloth for years. She has invited a whole slew of YVCC Art teachers to show their specialties at her home this year. Expect Rachel Dorn, David Lynx, Jennifer Saracino, John Bisonette, Timm Wauzynski, and Justin Martin.

Message from the LGG PresidentGreetings! Spring is here which always evokes a sense of renewal, hope and invigoration! We

here in the valley are especially reminded of this year after year through the abundance of our fertile landscape.

The Larson Gallery vision is “Cultivating a Love of Art”. We, as a board, are passionate and emphatic about our vision. We feel we are the stewards of the appreciation of art, just as farmers tirelessly cultivate their crops. Our vision embraces the entire community—no matter how you define art. We are not alone and have cultivated relationships with others in the community who support our endeavors. This year we have formed partnerships with other visionary forces in town. Liz McGree of JEM Group, along with David Lynx, WD Frank and Bill Brennan created the lobby ambiance worthy of the new Hotel Maison. The Larson Gallery’s fun “Pop Up” shows have continued this year with our friends at Gilbert Cellars. Many of you may have attended the Signature Style event this spring at the 4th Street Theatre featuring Belú Salon, demonstrates our new freindship with Charlie Robin and the Capitol Theatre. With these partnerships we have expanded the definition of art. It’s not one thing—it’s everything.

In 2017, we have a slate of exhibitions and events coming to Yakima with you in mind. All different and something for everyone. Thanks to our loyal membership base, you make this possible year

after year and truly help nourish our vision!
