Thus, the .6 will be lost to fit the frame.

D. NEWS FOR May, 2021 Since we came back from Oklahoma we have been very busy in building our home. With the pricing going thru the roof, it is hard to stay with the dollars allocated. This project will now expand to over a two – three year time frame. With plywood from $50.00 to $95.00 a sheet, it is going to be a ride. Lane has been doing her part. She was up in the skytrack basket, 25-30 feet in the air painting the gable ends. Since she started at Mt. Rushmore, I am now doing triple duty, house and artwork, and motherly chores. Lane leaves early in the morning and comes home later in the afternoon. The virus hasn’t slowed us down much. We do follow the world & US news as much as possible. It is better than a soap opera. She really enjoys creating pictures of things that she loves – as long as it involves fur, fin, or feathers. Up here on our mountain, - yes, me made mountain category in the South Dakota mountains list, we have our daily visits of 6 to 10 turkeys, 4 to 7 deer. It is heaven on high. Art wise, Lane has been busy painting her personal small originals for the season. She painted the “Peacekeepers” during the winter. It was a choice, do we call it Peacekeepers, or Peacemakers as per the saying. The image is that of the symbol on the police flag, and the blue line for that of the police We do follow and support the Military and the Police action. They have to follow the law, procedures, and politic issues. It is not the easiest job in town. So she has done paintings in honor of them. We hope you’all are doing well. Stay safe this year. Chuck and Lane

F. Stories for certain pictures
Broken Silence This scene is at Steam Boat Springs, Co. You go to the Fish Creek Falls trail and follow the trail to the top. You will come to an area that is beautiful. The stream runs through an area of nothing but beautiful white Aspens and there was snow on the ground in the latter part of September. It had a sweet musk smell from the Aspens. The image was picked up by Leanin’ Tree as a card
There are two hidden wolf heads in the picture Guardians of the Black Hills The local people talk about the faces in the rocks, but photographs were hard to find. Chuck took this picture on an overcast day and it shows a few of the faces. Granted, shadows play a big part in this except for the two big ones on top. They are visible with or without the sun. Chuck did not even see the rest of the faces until he went back to the room and looked at it, but again, not until he zoomed in on the picture and there they were. He said, we’ve (you’ve) got to paint this. The view is of the “Needles” while on the “Needles” highway at Custer State Park, South Dakota Needles Hwy, Custer State park

The wolves had caught a disease and all were wiped out. They were reintroduced by the State DNR. Many pictures were with the aid of Chuck and Cecil Taylor, Mich. State DNR.
EMG, one wolfs head will follow you. It will also change slightly change position by about 10 deg. It works 45 degrees to 45 degrees
Cloud Walkers The view is at the 9,500 (est) foot level at Longs Peak at Estes Park, Co. It is part of the Rocky Mountain
National Park. Due to thunderstorms and lightning, you’ve got to be back down by 2:00
Ghost Riders in the Sky We were listening to my mother’s old 78’s records and we played “Ghost Riders in the Sky” (Sons of the Pioneers) and concluded that we had to do a picture to this song. This was and is one of Lane’s favorite songs. If you look closely, you will see a lot of the words of the song in the picture. An old cowpoke, up the cloudy draw, hooves of steel, hot breath, devils herd (eyes), brands on fire, chasing the devils herd. The picture was taken to the Cattlemens’ Association for accuracy. In the picture, you will see Long Horns in the lead because they will go through water and canyons, they are not afraid, and the heifers will follow. The heifers and calves are bunched together in the back. Nasty Boys Still unknown to a Ducks Unlimited kennel owner in Michigan, one or more puppies in his kennel ate two antique decoys valued at $32,000. They had a new baby sitter and she was told not to let any of the new puppies inside the house. They could play with them outside, but not inside. Well, --when they came home, neither of his two girls, or the new baby sitter did not know anything about the two decoys becoming headless. But he is pretty sure that it was either the Black Lab or the Golden Retriever that committed the act. The decoys were not insured.
Accomplishments: Image used by Lean’in Tree, Beverely Corp in Japan, Artisan, Ducks Unlimited, and was in JC Penny Catalog. Spirit Canyon This canyon in Montana helps camouflage the Pinto’s during the winter months, the same way the canyon hides the guardian spirits that protects the Pinto’s. The scene is located near Great Falls, Montana and is called “The Hill” or “Kings Hill” (South of Monarch) on the map. This is where Lane got stuck in the snow storm. After the state person let her go through, the gate was closed behind her. With the big trailer behind her, she got stuck and sat there for at least 2 hours. She sketched

Bad Attitude
This picture is of a buffalo in a pond located at the intersection of Hwy 16A and the wildlife loop in Custer State Park, Custer, SD. Lane entered it into the South Dakota Tourism contest. It was of an angry buffalo coming out of the water. .He was coming towards us and proceeded to get faster, and his tail went up, and I said to Lane, lets get out of here, jumped into our duelly and “scadaddled” That’s short for “lets went Cisco”. We submitted the picture to the South Dakota Tourism for competition and it won 1st place for that time period. South Dakota Tourism called it a “playful buffalo”. Ha! We decided to do an original with prints from it. The photo got over 11,000 likes in a few days on face Book . We named it “Bad Attitude” or B.A.
Unsung Heroes This picture is in honor of all first responders past and present. The figure in the upper left
corner is a drawing on the National State Police Memorial. The eagle represents the American pride and the courage of these men and women. . The bag pipes are an important part of the first responders that are used in ceremonies and funerals. The paramedic represents all the men and women in the medical field. The 9/11 cross represents our nations’ strength in troubled times and determination to stay free and strong, and the fireman’s courage to go into fires at their own peril. The police women and policemen who serve and protect even the youngest. The K9 division that help protect their handlers and go into areas to search out possible infractions of the law and lost people. When she asked police and firemen what they think about when they head to a fire or an incident, they all said that they hope they are in God’s hands.
“Spirit of the Black Hills”, “Strong Medicine” and “ “I Yo Tatonka” These three pictures are of the largest buffalo at Custer State Park. They brand them with the year they were born. Then after ten years, they thin the herd and sell off older ones to other parks, etc. This particular one does not have a brand on him. He is really big and has escaped branding for at least 10 years, maybe 20 years. There is now a large mounted head at the Park Rangers Station that a car had hit at night time. The car was totaled. It is really big. We do not know if it is the same one or not.

“Natures Fury” This picture occurred as a result of the fire at Custer State Park between December 11, 2017 till December 20th. Due to the approaching fire, we were called at 11:30 pm to evacuate our home on LH road near the park. The fire, under 35 – 50 mph winds, the fire had advanced to within ¾ of a mile from us. But we were in Oklahoma for the winter. The fire continued for about 5 days and burned more than 54,000 acres, about half of the park. It continued SE towards Hwy 79 and Buffalo Gap. It started near Legion Lake when a power pole went down in the wind and sparked the ground. “Shades of Courage” This picture is in tribute to those who have fought for our Nation. Geronimo is included due to his beliefs and leadership. Left to right, Revolutionary War, WWII, Vietnam, Afghanistan/Iraq war, Korean Conflict, WWI, Geronimo. “Patriot Guardians” This picture Is dedicated to those who have served. It is of our National Cemetery of those who have fallen. The picture shows that children, as well as animals, can see the spirits of those soldiers. It shows the outfits of the soldiers in their time frame. A K-9 handler, a Vietnam soldier, an Afghanistan soldier, and two Desert Storm/shield soldiers In the clouds, and above the trees, some were able to pick out the horse and rider. They say it represents the 1st Cav Unit. Lane did not intent to put it there. It just happened. The patch on the back of the veteran states: THE NATION THAT FORGETS ITS DEFENDERS WILL ITSELF, BE FORGOTTEN. It is part of the tribute collection from HERO’S PRIDE.
