Term 1 – Week 5 26 February 2019
Principal’s Report Year 6 Camp Year 6 returned from the Great Aussie Bush Camp on Friday. The smiling faces coming off the bus showed that the students had a fantastic time at camp. The teachers reported that our students were enthusiastic and developed skills such as teamwork and perseverance. Most importantly they were well behaved. I thank the teachers for their dedication and willingness to give up their own personal time in order to allow our students to have this important experience. Welcome Picnic It was wonderful to see so many families attending the Welcome Picnic on Friday evening. The food vans were very popular as was the disco and jumping castle. It is a great way to welcome new families into the Lane Cove Public School community. My thanks to the P&C and volunteer parents for organising such an important event for our school. Family Statements As reported in the Loop in week 2 and in following mandated Department of Education policy, we can no longer accept cash or credit card payments via the pre-printed School payment envelopes. We have introduced a new online payment system called Schoolbytes. This is an improvement on the online payment system through the school website that parents have been using up until now. Student statements of account and fee reminders will be emailed directly to parents. These statements include a link to make secure payment online through the Westpac Parent Online Payment (POP) system (Visa & Mastercard credit/debit cards accepted). Please see instructions on how to make the online payments later in this edition of the Loop. Cash will be accepted at the front reception from parents only, and no change will be available. Cash brought to school by students will not be accepted. In the next week, Family Statements will be emailed and will include payment requests for both curriculum programs and voluntary contributions. The excursion grid that comes with the Family Statement provides details and costs of specific programs, excursions and incursions for Term 1 for students K-6. Please complete payment by Friday 15 March. Receipts for payments will be emailed. If you experience any difficulties in meeting the cost of the curriculum program please contact me to make alternate arrangements. Swimming Carnival Reminder A reminder that the 2019 Annual Swimming Carnival is on this Thursday 28 February, at North Sydney Olympic Pool from 8.30 am– 2.00 pm. If your child/ren is in Years 3-6 or if he/she is in Year 2, turns eight years old this year and can swim 50 metres, you are welcome to attend

to cheer them on. We need to begin early to get through the many events. Please note that the 50m Butterfly and Individual Medley will be held prior to the other events. If your child wishes to compete, please bring them to the pool by 8.30am. All other students going to the carnival should be at school by 8.45am, ready to catch buses that will leave at 9.00am sharp. Terry McKinnon Principal
Thank you to all those who helped set up and pack away after the Welcome BBQ. Without the efforts of our volunteer parents, these events wouldn’t happen. Whilst the weather wasn’t the best from all reports it didn’t dampen the fun.

Music News Urgent: Music Committee Convenor(s) needed. Hi, it’s us again! We know you are all “busy busy stop stop” (go beginner violin!) however, if we don’t find someone soon we will be “Rolling in the Deep” (Intermediate Concert Band loving playing Adele!)
Please, please, please volunteer if you can. We’re happy to just have an initial chat with you if you are at all interested.
Once again, we are happy for one volunteer or, if you and another parent would like to team up that would also be fine. The role needs someone with strong leadership skills but you don't necessarily need music knowledge. We are a really supportive committee so no one has to do it all.
Yrs 3 – 6 Swimming Carnival – Thursday 28th February 2019 Groups will be on as normal. Students have been asked to arrive at school at 8:45am so we’ll finish rehearsals just a few minutes early that day to ensure the kids have enough time.
Parent Rosters Following is the parent roster for the next couple of weeks. Please arrive 5-10mins early and let the tutor/conductor who you are. If your group isn’t listed it’s because there is no parent roster required at this stage.
