Welcome
Old Sarum Airfield Ltd, with Feilden+Mawson Architects, are currently formulating proposals for a strategic
masterplan for development at Old Sarum Airfield, which will ensure the long term viability of the airfield into
the future and protect the aviation heritage.
Please take your time to read through the following boards which set out our initial thoughts on how the
Airfield could be restored and regenerated.
The proposed strategy for Old Sarum Airfield is to:
Create a Management Plan, improve public access and visitor interpretation of its historic past
Restore and regenerate historic buildings
Create new facilities for aviation
Control tower
Visitor and Heritage Centre.
Improved restaurant and flying school premises
Collection of historic aircraft in WWII hangars
Promote further flying shows and events
Improve access to the airfield
Cycle/ walking routes
Viewpoints and platforms
Improve car parking facilities
Improve entrance into the site
Create high quality sympathetic residential development which enhances the historic environment
and protects the amenity of existing residents.
Provide community benefits for Old Sarum residents.
Create high quality strategic landscaping to improve and mitigate existing views into and out of
the conservation area from Old Sarum Scheduled Ancient Monument
Retain and safeguard the flying activities at Old Sarum Airfield for the future
