RESIDENTIAL REFUSE COLLECTION REQUIREMENTS: AVAILABLE TO CITY RESIDENTS ONLY

1. Receptacles shall be placed out after 6:00 pm on the day

preceding the regularly scheduled collection day, but no later

than 5:00 am on the regularly scheduled collection day. Refuse

must be brought out to the curb.

2. Receptacles shall comply with either of the two

following options:

Option 1: No more than thirty-five (35) gallons in volume

and weigh no more than fifty (50) lbs. when filled with

refuse, garbage or ashes.

Option 2: Larger receptacles (greater than 35 gallons)

shall meet the following current “Approved Refuse

Container List”: TOTER Brand, Model EVRII, Sizes 96, 64,

48, 35, & 32 gallons. Residents may purchase TOTER

Brand containers from local stores.

3. In order to keep trash from blowing around we ask that you still

bag your trash even when using a container.

4. We will not pick up Rocks, Heavy Metal, Waste Oil, Tires,

Batteries, or Hazardous Waste.

5. No biodegradable material or yard waste can be placed in your

refuse collection containers.

6. For large items we only pick up curbside during “special clean-

up week” or check out the “landfill” section of this pamphlet to

dispose of items sooner.

7. We will not pick up renovations, move outs or evictions.

Recycle Center Items Accepted/Requirements: 1. #1 PETE (PET) –Plastic Bottles (usually soda/water bottles

NO black or brown #1) – empty container, rinse clean, caps

can be left on, containers can be flattened.

2. #2 HDPE – Plastic Bottles translucent (usually milk jugs), &

Colored (usually detergent bottles) – empty container, rinse

clean, caps can be left on, containers can be flattened.

3. GLASS – Green, Brown, Clear – bottle & jar glass only. –

empty container, rinse clean, remove all lids, metal lids can

be recycled; leave in the bin.

4. TIN CANS – empty can, rinse clean, lids can be recycled

as well, cans can be flattened.

5. ALUMINUM CANS – empty cans, rinse clean, cans can be

flattened.

6. NEWSPAPER – Newspaper & Inserts Only as delivered,

no plastic, cardboard or mail. Place in brown paper bag or

bundle them with rope or twine.

7. MAGAZINES – less than 1” thick. Place in brown paper

bag or bundle them with rope or twine. Magazines & Phone

Books can be placed in the same brown paper bag.

8. PHONE BOOKS – Place in brown paper bag or bundle

them with rope or twine. Phone Books & Magazines can be

placed in the same brown paper bag.

9. OFFICE PAPER STOCK – Copy paper, junk mail,

envelopes, file folders, etc. Call 636-390-1032 for details.

10. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD – clean cardboard

accepted from residents & businesses.

11. CONSUMER BOX “CHIPBOARD” – Cereal, tissue,

soda/beer, cracker, toiletry boxes, etc.

Please deposit recyclables in proper bin or area.

AVAILABLE TO ANYONE

COMPOST/RECYCLING CENTER

LARGE APPLIANCE / SCRAP METAL DISPOSAL Large appliances including: stoves, refrigerators,

freezers, washers, dryers, water heaters, scrap metal,

etc., will be accepted at the City Compost / Recycling

Center during normal hours of operation. All

appliances/scrap metal must be placed in the trailer

provided. No fencing or barbed wire. Call 636-390-1032

for any questions of what we will or will not take. AVAILABLE TO ANYONE

LEAF / LIMB PICKUP: AVAILABLE TO CITY RESIDENTS ONLY

With the exception of holiday weeks, the following curbside collection will

be performed on Mondays as follows:

Ward #1 = First Monday of the Month - Ward #2 = Second Monday of the

Month - Ward #3 = Third Monday of the Month - Ward #4 = Fourth Monday

of the Month

REQUIREMENTS:

1. All leaves/limbs must be placed at the curb or at your normal trash

collection point by 5:00 am on the scheduled curbside collection day or

set out the night before.

2. Tree Trimmings must be no more than 6” in diameter and 4’ in length,

and in an amount not to exceed one 4’ long x 2’ high x 2’ wide bundle.

Bundles must be bound with rope or twine, No plastic or wire ties

acceptable.

3. Leaves must be put in biodegradable “paper bags” or in

containers that can be picked up and dumped by one person. Bags

can be purchased at local hardware stores.

4. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS will be picked up curbside, you will need to

take those to the Recycle Center.

5. LEAF VAC: Late fall when notice is given leaves can be raked to

the edge of your property, NOT IN THE STREET.

COMPOST DEPOSITING REQUIREMENTS

AVAILABLE TO CITY RESIDENTS ONLY

1. Tree trimmings must be no more than 6” in diameter,

no more than 6’ in length, and are not required to be

bound with rope or twine.

2. Leaves can be in biodegradable bags or emptied from

your container. No Cardboard or Plastic Bags.

3. No stumps or bushes with intact root balls will be

accepted at this facility.

4. Commercial haulers depositing yard waste will be

charged $2.00 per cubic yard fee. A regular size

pickup holds approximately 2 cubic yards.

COMPOST REMOVAL REQUIREMENTS As conditions warrant, 2 loads of compost are available

to residents living in the 63090 zip code.

CHRISTMAS TREES Christmas trees can be dropped off at the

Compost/Recycle Center during normal business hours.

A special collection for trees throughout town will be done

on Monday, January 6, 2020. Trees must be placed

curbside by 5:00 am. If you miss that collection, we will

pick them up on your normal scheduled Leaf/Limb

pickup. Please remove the stand, lights & ornaments.

USED OIL COLLECTION Used motor oil accepted at the Compost/Recycling

Center during normal hours of operation. No mixed oil

will be accepted; a test may be performed to verify it’s

strictly motor oil. There is a 5 gallon drop off limit unless

authorized by the Street Superintendent. Residents will

be required to sign the log sheet. Oil must be in

containers that are easily dumped and containers taken

with you once emptied. AVAILABLE TO ANYONE

E-CYCLE EVENTS: (ALL TYPES OF ELECTRONICS)

Held April 18, 2020 & October 17, 2020. Flyers are

posted on the city website. If you need to dispose of
