Corresponding Project Goals
•Material Recycling
•Divert 90% of Construction Waste from Landfills
•Install materials with a minimum 10% recycled content
•Material Reuse
Construction Waste Recycling
The Contractor is required to dispose of 90% of all non-hazardous construction and demolition debris at a recycling facility or transfer station. The contractor will choose to trackthe materials slated for disposal by weight or volume.
Construction Waste Recycling
The following waste categories, at a minimum, shall be diverted from landfill. Land clearing debris and soil will not be included in the calculation of diverted materials. This includes organic material from landscape area and excavation materials.
• Clean dimensioned wood, pallet wood• Plywood, OSB, and particleboard• Concrete• Bricks• Concrete Masonry Units (CMUs)• Asphaltic concrete• Cardboard, paper, packaging• Metals
Construction Waste Recycling
Documentation/Enforcement:
•Construction Waste Management Plan
•Monthly Progress Reports
•Monetary deduction for percentage point deficiency
Recycled Content
The Contractor shall install materials which in total contain a minimum of 10% recycled content for those items denoted in the summary of quantities as potential items for recycled content.
Recycled Content
Recycled Content Documentation
Documentation/Enforcement:
•Recycled Content Utilization Plan
•Monthly Progress Reports
•Monetary deduction for percentage point deficiency
Innovation in Recycled Content
•Asphalt: Warm Mix, GTR, 50% FRAP•Concrete: Sidewalk with 30%recycled aggregates and recycled water
Material Reuse Requirement
The Contractor shall track and quantify all materials reused in the construction of this improvement and all materials returned to the City of Chicago for re-use by the City at other locations.
•Undisturbed portions of the project site•Cut/fill performed onsite•Sign panels •Sign assemblies•Sign posts•Sewer structure frames and lids•Street lighting equipment•Traffic signal equipment
