On behalf of the Lancashire Darts Organisation and our joint sponsors, Thwaites Brewery & Frontierland, we would like to extend a warm and friendly welcome to our visitors from London.

I hope that you will enjoy your weekend of darts and the use of the facilities during your visit to Morecambe.

On behalf of my committee, players and officials I would like to thank the management and staff for all their help and encouragement.

I would also like to wish both teams the "best of luck and may the games be played in the sporting manner that we are accustomed to in the Counties Championships.

All in Lancashire wish our visitors a safe and comfortable journey back home.

Yours in the Sport of Darts, Tommy Thompson,

Chairman

R E D R O S E N E W S L E T T E R O n the w a y d o w n o n the coaches to Essex a few of the gang were d o w n in the d u m p s th rough one reason or another, a bad week at work, money prob lems, fami ly p rob lems, not been very wel l , o r just general ly fed up wi th every th ing. So it w a s g o o d to look round the room on Sunday at the faces of the red army shout ing & cheer ing o n the lads & lasses of Lancashi re . Even if it is only for a few hours it does you g o o d to forget your t roubles & let yourself go - e v e n if you can' t talk on Monday morn ing. I hope you are all in as g o o d voice this w e e k e n d I can assure you it lifts the players no end w h e n they hear you all cheer ing t h e m on. One young player on his debut for the county 'A' t e a m at Essex will surely never forget the ovat ion he rece ived w h e n he w o n against an Essex player, Peter Mulreany, w h o had not lost a g a m e th is season , till he met 16 year o ld Louis Blundel l . I know I w a s over the m o o n for the youngster , w h o misses this weekends f ixture because he has been se lec ted for the Eng land youth t e a m at abroad, I a m sure he wil l do us p roud . Louis wasn ' t the only one to get the Red Rose Suppor ters cheer ing. Paul Wi l l iams w a s o n t remendous f o r m aga in fo l lowing his thri l l ing w inn ing match against Surrey internat ional p layer Sean Burgess . At Essex Paul w a s d rawn against yet another Eng land internat ional in Kev in Painter, a n d as he d id aga ins t Bu rgess he w o n the m a n of the m a t c h award w i th an average of 97.08 every three darts, scor ing 14 tons & over, another p layer w h o registered 14-3 f igure scores w a s the ton mach ine himself, A lan Glazier, he w o n wi th an average of 92.13. - Fran Lynch also w o n wi th an average of 92 .38 . Five p layers had high 80 's averages - Mark Holden 89.94, Ian Roe 88.62, Ronnie Baxter 87 .63 , Tony Black ledge 86.94 & Br ian Derbyshire 85.74 wh ich ex tended the t e a m average to a lmost 88. Wh ich as far as I can recall is a County record. Read all about the game in Mavis' match reports on pages 15 & 16. Our visi tors today have had their d i f ferences, as w e have, w i th fo rmer comperes current ly mak ing themse lves known wi th the other s ide. But w e in Lancashi re are manag ing qui te wel l w i th our new vo ices th rough the mike as Tommy T h o m p s o n & Loll Ho lmes take us very professional ly th rough County matches here at the Crazy Horse & I a m sure London are very p roud of young George Noble w h o w a s seen recent ly comper ing in the Embassy Finals. Best of luck to everyone enterta in ing us today

See you at the bar. Bruce.

Nice to have you back in the squad Jo.
