We see the current high level o

    drilling and Floating Production,

    Storage and Ooading Vessel

    (FPSO) related projects

    continuing into 2009 and

    beyond. This is particularly so

in the Middle East and India

    region and this will undoubtedly

have the eect o ensuring that

Lamprell continues to play asignifcant role in the ongoing

    rig reurbishment activities

    and the ever increasing

    new build activities.

During this busy period we have

also given pause to reect on

how ar we have come as a

    company with the celebration

    o the 25th anniversary o our

    Vice President o Engineering,

    George Jacob, having joined

    the company in 1982. The

    celebration caused us to

reect on the act that 25

    years ago, when George

    joined the company, there

were only 25 tradesmen in theemployment o Lamprell, and

o those we still have eight

    still working with the company

today. However we are now a

    company which has grown to

    a workorce o over 4000. This

    growth has been built upon

    the loyalty and commitment

    o our long term employees.

As we continue to grow and

    develop as a company we

are still seeing this long term

    commitment and loyalty o our

key workorce as being at the

    heart o our ongoing success

    and confdence in the uture.

As always I would like toexpress the thanks o the Board

    o Directors, the Lamprell amily

    and my own personal thanks

to our people or getting us to

    where we are today.

Aban VIIWe were pleased to welcome a new client to Lamprell with the arrival o the Aban VII

o our Sharjah acility in mid April ater a heavy-lit voyage rom the USA

    The main elements o work

    undertaken were to provide

reinorcement to the leg bracesand removal o the existing

    helideck, and abrication and

    installation o a new helideck

    with supporting structure.

The new helideck was installed in

    compliance with the requirements

    o American Bureau o Shipping

    (ABS) and the locally applicable

    CAP 437 regulations.

    A number o other upgrade

    and reurbishment works were

completed whilst the rig was in the

yard, including, but not limited to,

    fre water/bilge water piping, and

    various structural abrication

    repair works.

    The project was successully

    managed by Abans Project

    Manager, TJ Karmakar with the

    support o the Operations Manager

Jayarajan K and the Deputy General

    Manager Maintenance

    K Radhakrishnan.

    We are now in discussions

    with Aban regarding the total

    reurbishment o the rigs existing

    accommodation with the work

being planned or the frst quarter

    o 2008.

    Saipem took the opportunity during

a break in their contract with Saudi

Aramco to bring the Perro Negro 2

into our Sharjah acility or general

    reurbishment works including the

    replacement o approximately 120

    tonnes o hull steel.

Upon the rigs arrival a UWILD

    survey was commenced. This had

the eect o delaying the start o

    steel replacement works.

    However, considering the amount

o steel to be replaced, combined

    with a daily expanding scope

o work, the project wascompleted successully.

    Apart rom the extensive steel

    replacement, works were carried

out on all o the rigs major

    piping systems.

    Our rotating machinery division,

    Lamprell Oilfeld Engineering

was also involved in this project

    providing the required qualifed

expertise or the overhaul o the

    drawworks, crown block and

    traveling block.

The Hank Boswell arrived the same

day as the Scooter Yeargain earlier

this year with much the same

work scope, to get ready to drill in

the Kingdom o Saudi Arabia. The

Hank Boswell is a new rig but at

the time had not drilled its frst wel l.

    However all the commissioning

had been completed beore the rig

    reached Sharjah.

Prior to the arrival o the rig, a series

o meetings were held between the

    client and our dierent departments

    to settle amongst other things,

the scope o work, the bridging

    documents, fnalising o contracts,

together with a wide range o

    documentary requirements.

    Induction meetings were also held

with all the workers assigned to

the project. When the rig arrived

on the 26th February, a kicko

meeting was held at which all the

key personnel rom both sides were

    introduced and the various project

    roles defned.

    Although there was no painting

required to the hull or leg wells or

    helideck there was additional work

    required to the deluge system,

    pump and piping. Again the

timescale was tight or all these

scopes to be completed on time.

The Hank Boswell let the same day

as the Scooter Yeargain and is now

working on a long term contract or

    Saudi Aramco.

    o work, the bridging

    documents, fnalising

    o contracts, etc.

    All workers assigned to

    the project also attended

visit to Sharjah Port this year,

arriving rom the Gul o Mexico to

    undergo schedule G compliance

    upgrades and modifcation beore

    mobilising to Saudi Arabia.

    The timescale was very tight

and allowed only 28 days to

    complete the scope. Works

    included abricating and installing

    a new mosque, installation o

king posts and are booms, andan accommodation upgrade to

    provide Asian ablution acilities.

Nabors Rig 691(ormerly named Rig Ahmed)

    Following the recent acquisition o

    the three Nabors accommodation

    rigs, Millennium Oshore Services

    awarded Lamprell the frst contract

to upgrade the rig Ahmed or its

    upcoming contract with Gupco in

    the Egyptian Red Sea.

The main scope was to upgrade

and reurbish various areas o the

    internal accommodation and its

    associated systems.

    Thorough inspection and testing

was carried out on all rig cranes

    and machinery space equipment.

With the tow to its new l ocation

on a heavy lit ship, the warranty

    surveyors insisted on extensive

checks to be made on all critical

welds on the legs and structures

    associated with the legs.

    This is a newly-built Friede &

    Goldman designed JU 200E.

The rig arrived on a heavy lit on the

25th September and was moored at

the Sharjah acility. Although a new

rig, built in Dalian shipyard China,

    there were some additional works

to be added and some unfnished

    commissioning. The main scope

o work or Lamprell was the

manuacture o a stair tower which

will be installed at the at outboard

o the cantilever end. It is required

as access to the wellhead due to an

air gap requirement o 120 eet. The

tower has already been completedand will soon be installed onto the

rig hull. Inside the tower there will

be a stairway and elevator, which

    Lamprell will electrically hook up

    and commission. Other additions

    include a WellBay runway beam

which will be attached to the

    underside o the cantilever and

once skidded out will acilitate liting

    assistance to the wellhead area.

    A ten man accommodation module

    will be manuactured and added

to the upper deck as a Shell

    requirement and will be installed

and hooked up by Lamprell. Several

    other operational requirements

    will be designed and built/

    installed by Lamprell to meet

    Shell requirements.

There will also be a requirement or

    the hookup o electrical, mechanical

    and abrication disciplines or

    third party equipment, such as

    the cement unit, wireline unit,

    mudlogging system and low-

    pressure shaker system. This is

    a state-o-the-art rig, which gives

Lamprell a good idea o what

    to expect rom other worldwide

acilities and a good benchmark to

show what we can achieve, now

that we have are entered the new

    build market.

    Noble Roger Lewis

    Nabors Ocean Master VIII(Rig 240)

    Nabors OM8 arrived in

    Hamriyah Port on the

    31st July, duration

    72 days

A series o meetings took place with

    Nabors Project team headed by

Red Carter and Ian Green prior to

the rigs arrival. As the largest scope

was to reurbish the completejacking system, our mechanical

    department was under considerable

pressure to complete the work in

    a timescale o 72 days. However,

    the mechanical department were

to prove us all wrong. Due to their

    efciencies, the jacking system

    scope was completed and tested

15 days early. This was also

helped by the assistance o the

    rig managers, Ted Catchpole and

Steve Hayes. They were o great

help not only with the jacking

    system but throughout the

    whole project.

As a result this project was a great

    success or Lamprell.

The rest o the scope included a

UWILD survey o spud cans, hull

    steel replacement, installation o

    new docking plugs, overhaul o

    both mud pumps, replacement

o the Koomey unit and skidding

    piping systems, abrication and

    installation o a new draw-works

    shed, along with new handrails

around the rig oor, plus steel

replacement on the drill oor itsel,

    replacement o lieboat platorms,

    removal o water-makers and

    reurbishment. Replacement o all

    helideck netting and load testing.

    Removal o travelling block along

with crown block and top drive

which was sent out to Lamprell

    Jebel Ali or inspection and

reurbishment. All the mud pit oor

    plates were renewed along with

new fbreglass gratings. Paintingo hull sides and hull bottom were

also completed. Again due to good

    teamwork and efciencies o all

team members, this scope o work

    was also completed seven days

early, ater which we were given

additional works until the OM8 let

Hamriyah and returned back to its

    contract or Occidental in Qatar.

    completed as per the planned

    completion date with no recordable

    injuries and good quality

    was achieved.

    GSF 103: third mud

    pump installation

    August heralded the return

o GSF 103 to Sharjah or the

installation o a third mud pump.

    The project window was very

    tight allowing only 25 days

    to complete the works. The

    tight schedule incorporated a

    number o additional challenges

such as a compact scope o

work in the derrick area, and a

    comprehensive rebuild o the

existing raw-water tower. All o the

    work was completed within the

    schedule and the co-operative

    Lamprell Global Santa Fe project

    team racked up almost 100,000

    man-hours with no lost-time

    incidents whilst executing the

    work. GSF103 has now returned

    back to station.

New Emergency VehiclesLamprell drives towards a saer environment

    With Lamprell Managements

    continuing eort and commitment

to improve the health and saety o

    its employees, the Lamprell Health,

    Saety and Environment (HSE)

    department has recently purchased

    three Toyota Hiace state-o-the-art

emergency vehicles or its sites in

    Sharjah, Jebel Ali and Hamriyah.

    These provide onsite emergency

    response in the unortunate event

o an injury that requires evacuation

    to hospital.

    The vehicles have been modifed

    to accommodate a ully equipped

    medical response service that

    would rival any emergency

    response team. To urther

    enhance these vehicles and the

    emergency intervention on-site,

    the entire saety department

    team have been certifed in

    advanced frst aid to enable

    quick and proessional medical

response. They will be trained in

the use o all the equipment that

    the vehicles are equipped with,

    including defbrillators and other

    lie-sustaining equipment to ensure

that the best medical support is

    available to the Lamprell workorce

    at all times.

    Lamprell management have also

    commissioned two emergency

    response trailers to enhance

    the response capability on the

    company sites. These are equipped

    with a comprehensive array o

    equipment that will enable the

    emergency response team to react

    quickly to any eventuality anywhere

in the yard, quayside or rig rom

a fre, to an injured person working

at height, in confned space or an

    environmental incident.

Noble George McleodThe Noble George Mcleod was one

o the three rigs to arrive at Sharjah

in the month o October. The base

scope o work called or additional

    helideck and accommodation

    modifcations. The base scope

    was planned and developed into

a defned work scope and an

    aggressive schedule was drawn

up that called or completion o the

    works within a

19 day time rame. We pulled out all

o the stops once again to ensure

    that the planned and defned

schedule o work as well as

    class related works were completed

on time. In act the rig departed

Sharjah two days ahead o the

    planned schedule. We consider

this to be a urther example o the

    outstanding perormance on the

part o the project team under the

    direction o Andy Edmonson, the

    Ensign Rigs 31 and 49

    In the month o

    November we

    witnessed the

    double departure o

    Ensigns rigs 31 and

    49 rom the acility.

    Both units are now

    in transit destined

    or operations in

    Qatar and Oman

    respectively

    Lamprell Project Manager

Darren Kileen and rig 31 Ensign

    Project Manager John Weldon

    worked tirelessly to achieve the

    completion date, which involved the

    development o many engineering

    solutions. These solutions ormed

the template or rig 49 in an eort

    to achieve an incredibly

    aggressive schedule.

All in all this has proven to be the

    largest complete reurbishment

    program that Lamprell Oilfeld

    Engineering Services has

    experienced to date.

    Darren Kileen commented, The

    Ensign site management team is

    to be commended or maintaining

    an efcient ow o inormation

    enabling Lamprell to achieve the

    production targets demanded o

    this aggressive schedule.

    The two rigs were our

    frst major reurbishment

    projects conducted or

    Ensign, and we look

    orward to being able to

    maintain the relationship

    on uture projects.

    November also saw the

    departure o KCA Deutags

    rig T202, a 3000HP land

    rig, which was returning

ater a gap o two years or urther

    reurbishment. With a ast-track

    schedule o 14 weeks, due to a

secured contract or the rig, the old

    ethos o preparation, planning and

teamwork came to the ore, with the

    rig departing or Libya

    on time.

    Project Manager Derek Yates

    commented, The constant contact

    with KCA Deutag Project Manager

Klaus Altmann, his team and Shell

    onsite representatives helped to

ensure that key decisions could be

made quickly to enable the works

    to progress efciently. To achieve

the level o works that we did in

such a limited timerame, but most

importantly without any accidents orlost time incidents, is a testament to

    the proessionalism and dedication

o both the KCA Deutag and

    Lamprell teams.

This fnal quarter o 2007 has

    seen measurable progress on

    the reurbishment o Nabors rig

    143, a 3000HP land rig. The mast

    and substructure have now been

raised to the vertical position, and

a new mud system installed, in

    preparation or commissioning

    during December. This will allow

    or the departure date o Q1 2008

to be achieved. This is proving to

be a busy period or Nabors and

Lamprell alike, with land rigs 622

and 218 expected to arrive at the

end o 2007, to be ollowed by rig

    326 in January 2008.

A amiliar Nabors site team o Keith

    Conatser, Alred Gopalan, and

Jordan Kuntz will again oversee our

operations, and we look orward to

    their continued support.

We are pleased to announce that

we have now begun our frst new-

build land rig, a 2000HP lightning

    design rig. In partnership with

    LeTourneau, who are the designers

    and equipment manuacturers or

    this build.

    We have embarked on a

competitive delivery schedule andwe currently orecast completion

    o this within Q3 2008. Led by

    Project Manager Darren Kileen, and

    assisted by LeTourneau personnel

both here in Dubai and in Houston,

we look orward to updating you on

    the new-build program progress in

    uture issues.

A Shearing Good DayIn November Jebel Ali based

    UAE Desert Challenge 2007

    he Lamprell sponsored under-

    9s rugby squad commenced the

    007/2008 season with a brace o

    wins against strong competition.

    he English College squad lited

he trophy in the inaugural Al Ain

    ugby tournament held in October,

y beating Doha Rugby club 12-5

n a closely contested game. These

    winning ways continued into the

    Abu Dhabi competition staged in

    November, with the squad emerging

    as champions ater a convincing

    21-7 win against Dubai College.

This provided the team with much

    confdence heading into the

    International Rugby 7s tournament

    held in Dubai in December.

    Once again the squad acquitted

    themselves

    admirably with

    a succession

    o good results

    against Kuwait,

    Dubai Hurricanes

    and a fercelycontested match

    with Dubai Exiles

    that was

    won 16-5.

    Having made it to

    a semi-fnal spot,

    the squad were

to ace Doha Rugby Club who theyhad beaten earlier in Al Ain. Ater a

physical 12-all tie the game entered

the extra period with Doha scoring

the golden try in the dying seconds.

This brought an end to the game

and secured Dohas passage to the

    televised fnal.

Whilst the squad were disappointedto exit the competition in this way,

we are immensely proud o their

    collective achievements whilst

    sporting the Lamprell shirt.

or those o you who are unaware,

he challenge is a fve-day desert

ndurance race held in Abu Dhabis

    empty quarter that hosts bikes,

ucks and cars. In the fve days

    he entrants cover 2500km o

ome o the harshest desert terrain

    your physical, mental and riding

strengths to the limit. It is also a

    leg o the world cross-country

    championships, which attracts the

best drivers and riders in the world.

Justin Taylor qualifed 34th in the

super special stage out o 66 bike

entrants. On the frst day he brought

his position down to 19th, which he

held throughout most o the race.

The fnal result was 4th in the 450cc

    class and 16th overall.

    An outstanding eort considering

that until six months ago he had not

ridden a bike or many years, and

his only goal was to fnish the race.

Justin joined fve other riders to

    make up the Sandstorm/Aggreko

    motorcycle team. One o his

ellow team riders is an employee

    o Aggreko and negotiated a

    sponsorship deal with them, which

    they would give

    AED 12,500 to

    each rider or

    costs. The riders

    then had to the

    raise the same

    amount which

    Aggreko would

    then give to three

    local childrens

    charities. Lamprell Management

    generously donated the money on

Justins behal, so well done to the

    riders, Aggreko and Lamprell or

    supporting local childrens charities.

As or Justin, he is enjoying a very

    well deserved rest beore training

Al Anz. I was receptionist, come

    secretary, come

    bookkeeper

    until others

    were employed.

    We then added

    the yard in Deira

    near Galadari

    roundabout,

    and it was here,

    when the yard

    and ofces were

    ooded, that

    Alan Maskery appeared dressed in

ull diving gear to lighten the mood.

It was at this point that we moved to

our present location in Sharjah Port.

All o our named colleagues above

were working with us by this time

    and their ortitude, dedication and

    loyalty have contributed enormously

    to the success o Lamprell.

There are so many memories, ups

    and downs, things going wrong,

impossible situations that had to be

    overcome beore things could go

right. All o these memories were

brought to the oreront o our minds

on Sunday, 28 October 2007 when

    George Jacob our Naval Architect

    and now Vice President Engineering

celebrated his 25 years service and

presentation. A big thank you rom

Steven Lamprell and I goes to Jake,
