Dear Water Customer,  As you are aware, Malcomson Road Utility District is

Most issues can be resolved without a trip to EDP’s offices, so please call before going to the office. Should you need to visit EDP’s office, it is located near HWY 290 and Jones Road, at 17495 Village Green Drive. Please call for directions. The mailing address for your water bill payment is changing and the account number for your bill is changing. The new mailing address for your water bill payment will be P.O. Rosehill Christian School Senior Wayne McCullough signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Colorado Christian University. Wayne, a member of the National Honor Society, has received both academic and athletic scholarships from CCU.

Colorado Christian Head Coach Kevin Lubbers was also impressed with Wayne’s All-State Recognition and his contribution to the RCS Eagles State Semi-Finalist status earlier this year. The 6’4” point guard has led the Eagles basketball team in rebounds, assists, steals and 3-pointers.

Colorado Christian University is a NCAA Division II university located in Lakewood, a suburb of Denver. CCU is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference which includes 14 universities.

Wayne has attended Rosehill Christian School since kindergarten and has played football, baseball, and basketball for the school. He has thrived under the coaching of RCS coaches Ed Lamar and Jonathan Whitson. He has also been playing for Lamar’s AAU teams. While he will miss the personal attention and encouragement from both coaches, he is excited about the prospect of playing for CCU.

Lakewood GroveFollowing the July 4th holiday, my wife handed me my updated “Honey

Do” list. When we were first married, she’d put Post It notes at the breakfast table, to remind me of this thing, or that. Of course, I’d peel them away as I dealt with each reminder. Still, her reminders started getting ahead of me. In fact, the collection of sticky little squares of paper got so thick and uneven, I began having problems keeping my cereal bowl level. So, in the interest of keeping things neat, I asked if she’d slip the notes into the in-box atop my desk. That worked for a while. Eventually, she got her own in-box, labeled

“Honey Do.” Then, her own file drawer. Well, you get the idea. Which is why when she put “The List” on the dining room table, I was reminded of an old cell phone commercial. The one where the gal puts the cell phone bill on the table and the table promptly collapses under the weight. Gratefully, Laura took the time to collate, index, prioritize and bind “The List” into a nice, thick binder. It’s really quite pretty the way she color coded the priorities – even if there is a lot of red. Like any good and dutiful husband, I’ve been working my Honey Do these past few weeks. I’m proud to say that I’m more than half way through and most of the red stuff is gone! However, this musing isn’t about “The List.” Rather, it got me thinking about the way women’s minds work. Now, I’m not an expert on the subject. I don’t think I could live that long. In fact, I don’t

think any man could live that long. Still, there have been stories. Which is why I’d like to relay one ofmy own. For posterity, so to speak. Hopefully, someone out there will bestow a little wisdom upon me.

Perhaps something that doesn’t make reference to “The List.” I may have shared this story with one or two of you in recent weeks. If it sounds familiar, I apologize. Still, good material is hard to walk away from. More importantly, truth is stranger – and funnier – than fiction. However, in the interest of keeping it, well, interesting to all who might take the time, I’ll endeavor to embellish, just a bit. I’ve changed names and tweaked details, but not such that you’d notice. If you make it to the end of my narrative, drop me a note. Share your thoughts. Just don’t mention “The List.” Sorry, I already said that.

A few years ago, I took up swimming at a local indoor pool. I’d been having some back problems and was looking for a way to keep the blood pumping without abusing myself too much. The pool is part of a larger facility, owned and operated by one of the local hospitals, which serves as a both a gym and out patient rehabilitation center. When I first showed up, it became immediately evident that I was the youngest person there. Before my arrival, the average age was about seventy. After my arrival, it was still about seventy. However, I did double the male population. I met

Lakewood GroveBob – not his real name - at the pool. Whenever the senior aerobics class is in session, Bob and I share the lap lane. Venturing into the main area of the pool during class is not all together safe.

The classes are large and the students rowdy. Any poor soul there to swim laps could get roughed up if he ventures outside the lap lane, during class. Bob is somewhere on the other side of ninety years of age. He was a stunt man in Hollywood, as heputs it, “When they knew how to make movies.” He’s fond of telling me that whenever you saw Tom, Roy, or Big John kicking butt on the big screen, that was his butt getting kick. Of course, he says he’d have stayed with Vaudeville if George hadn’t run him out of town for hitting on Gracie.

The first time I met Bob, he was walking into the pool room sporting a snorkel mask and a pair of flesh tone Speedos. He waved to all the ladies, in the class, as he shuffled to the edge of the pool. In perfect unison, the gals all waved back and said, “Hi Bob.” Once in the water, he swam with an unusual style. The closest thing to Bob’s swimming style that I can reference are Patrick Duffy’s underwater swim scenes from the ill-fated ‘70’s TV show “Man from Atlantis.” For an hour each day, Bob swims from one end of the pool to the other, surfacing only at the pool’s edge to turn around and catch his breath. The rest of Bob’s routine is little more than a ripple below the water. One day I showed up at the pool, while Bob was on vacation. He was visiting relatives in New York and looking

for some new Speedos. I’d been doing laps for about twenty minutes when the water aerobic class ended. The ladies from the class lined up along the lap lane and began slipping dollar bills into the waist band of my trunks, as I swam past! One or two shouted as I passed, “Work it baby! Work it!” One gal must have been on a “fixed income” because she kept slipping quarters into my shorts.

When I got home, I showed Laura the roll of soggy singles and explained to her what had happened. Without a moments hesitation, she relieved me of my wad of cash and shot back, “If I put you in some skimpy Speedos, like Bob, do you think they’d stuff it with tens and twenties?” I kept the quarters to myself.

Shortly after Bob returned from his vacation, we were in the men’s locker room, when I mentioned the Incident in the pool. He chuckled a bit and smiled broadly as I recounted my tale. When I’d finished, he shook his head, “Al, I’m glad you’re here. Those women have been running me ragged for months now. It’s good to know you’re here to spell me.” Then, he lowered his head and shook it slightly, “Still, I’m gonna miss all that extra cash. Don’t know what I’m gonna do when I’m in Baton Rouge next month, for the quarter slots.”
