President’s Message
I would like to thank those members who took time out of their busy fall schedules to attend the annual meeting and participate in our little democracy. Good things were accomplished just as many good things have been
accomplished around the lake this year. Most recently we had a great turnout for trunk o treat at the lodge.
Thanks to the Rec Committee for pulling that off. As I mentioned prior to voting in the annual meeting, certain bylaw changes which were accepted are going to
result in changes to the submitted budget for 2014. Particularly we are going to have to move funds to put more
accounts into collections or beyond. This is going to be a priority for the board this winter...more info to follow. I hope everyone has safe and happy holidays.

Lake, Dam & Waste Water
We had a dam inspection on September 26. The inspection came out about the same as the last one. We have a
lot of up keep that we have not been doing on a regular basis. I got a crash course on the dam due to the inspection. We have to keep all grass that is part of the dam area at 6 to 10 inches at all times so it helps with
the erosion. Keep the cracks on dam and walls caulked, gates in working order, vegetation on rocks sprayed,
flip bucket kept clean of rocks and debris and the low flow area. I want to thank the board and Jim Coolman
and the maintenance crew for all the work on the dam before the inspection. We had Mike Word clear some of the rock out of the flip bucket; our crew caulked cracks, took debris out of the low flow area, worked the gates
on the weir and cut trees. We started a maintenance log to keep track of what is being done to keep the dam safe
and in working order. Grass was reseeded in the emergency spillway area as there should be no bare spots and we need to put rip-rap rock at the south end of emergency spillway all of this is to keep erosion down.
Measurements are to be put on the weir to monitor the water levels. More caulking needs to be done at dam.
There is a gate at the flip bucket that needs to be looked at to find out why it doesn’t work and then will need fixed so we can let the water out of the flip bucket to check for debris and cracks. The Emergency Action Plan
needs updated and then given to all the board members.
The water inspection I did at beach and river tested ok at the 24 hours.

Security
If any snowbirds have not made arrangements with neighbors to keep an eye on their property over the winter, I
would be glad to offer that service. If you leave your name and address with the office, I will do a twice per month random walk around to check for any break in, weather damage, etc. I will be keeping a log of this, so
you will be able to check with the office to see when this was done. You will be contacted directly if there is
anything adverse to report. All I ask is that you make a donation to the lake committee of your choice.

BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE – FALL 2013
Just a reminder to all the volunteers that care for a flowerbed, now is the time to trim back most plants, dig up
cannas, dahlia, glads, and tubular begonias and plant spring bulbs. As I pulled up the plants in my small garden, I felt blessed that they produced such sweet produce and gave me
enough to eat, share and put in the freezer. I am already planning my spring garden that gets me through the
winter! Thanksgiving and Christmas is just around the corner and the Beautification would again this year like to
acknowledge the wonderful decorations our residents display for everyone’s delight. So, judging for Christmas
decorations will be the weekend of December 14th and 15th . First place will receive $50 and second will receive
$25. So, get up on that roof, string those lights and have millions of cords connecting displays in your yard. The Beautification Committee is always open for new members and appreciates any suggestions you may have.
We will resume our monthly meeting on the second Monday of the month in March.
Until then, we wish you peace, health and good times.

KRAFTERS KLUB

together. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
RECREATION COMMITTEE
The Recreation Committee held the Dedication of the Pavilion on a beautiful sunny day on October 12, 2013
which started about 2:30 pm.
Lynn Elston & Rich Sheets were asked in advance to speak and give a blessing. They graciously accepted. Carol began the event by thanking everyone for attending and for their contributions in making this event a reality
whether it was with money, sweat or both. Carol then introduced Lynn Elston & Rich Sheets to continue with
the dedication. They both spoke very eloquently and we want to give them a special THANK YOU. Lynn Parke and Lori Poynter also spoke and thanked everyone for their contributions. A big THANKS to Beautification for
donating the coffee and the wonderful cookies. Wine and coffee were available when Marge Parke graciously
made her toast and also thanked everyone for their support and hard work.
New LSPOA members, Scott & Kristina Kruthaup won the 50/50 drawing of $42 and donated it back to the Rec Committee. A big THANKS to the Kruthaups.
To those who couldn’t make it, we missed you. It was a wonderful, positive day. This was a worthwhile project
that was planned when the Rec Committee first started back in 2005 and is now a reality. Again, thanks to our LSPOA community for all the help, contributions and support.

Some of the wonderful volunteers who help with the LSPOA Thunderbird Newsletter
Seated from left to right: Henry Huner, Janice Bilton, Pat Delcamp, James Delcamp
Standing from left to right: Dorothy Huner, Carol Swiatkowski, Connie Durham, Joe Nell Beggs, Barb Crow, Marge
Parke and Rita Mercer.
We can’t leave out the one who is taking the picture and compiles the information for our newsletter, Pam Sheets.
Thanks to all who volunteer their services. Without our volunteers, many tasks would not be accomplished.
