LHE Garage Sale - Submitted by Peter Nelson

Thank you to all of the participants in the 2020 LHE Garage Sale. We had about 450 cars through the main gate which equates to about 900 guests shopping for bargains. Thank you to all the volunteer traffic coordi-nators and gate greeters. Thanks to Wendell Roddy and the Lake Wales Care Center for the community wide pick up after the garage sale and also to all the bakers, grillers and sellers at both the bake sale and hot dog sale. I believe the LHE Garage Sale is a big plus for the community. The next one is scheduled for the first weekend in March 2021. Again thanks to all.

Relay for Life - Submitted by Judy Koblentz

My daughter and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Relay for Life annual event for the American Cancer Society part of Haines City and Davenport. The relay was held Friday, March 6 and will be held again next year. We are not sure of the date and time yet. I would like to thank everyone that helped with contributions from their garage sale and individual contributions. It all went to the Discovery Academy team that my daughter heads up from her school. If you remember she spoke February at coffee talk. She also is on the main committee for the event and has done this for 12 years. Again thank you all. Maybe next year we can have our own LHE team which involves raising money for the event throughout the year and having a table at the event. Again thank you. We have a wonderful, caring, giving communi-ty that I am proud to be a part of.

BUYING OR SELLING? I WILL BE GLAD TO ASSIST YOU, YOUR FAMILY/FRIENDS WITH YOUR REAL ESTATE NEEDS IN LAKE HENRY ESTATES AND POLK COUNTY!

Submitted by Len Unger and Ralph Shepherd, Security Committee

I have had to spend a considerable amount of time at the guard shack on security cameras, etc.. During this time I had to assist many persons at the keypad, and became aware that residents have been giving out their private 4 digit access codes. In as much as we have had a large number of new residents move into LHE the past year, we felt it beneficial to again publish the below article. Access to LHE Gate by Visitors and Service Companies - Recently it has come to our attention that homeowners are still giving out their individual assigned 4 digit code to delivery persons, contractors and others coming to your home instead of giving out their assigned 3 digit code.

For the safety and security of our residents it is important that each homeowner not give out their 4 digit code but to only give out their 3 digit code. When the person uses the 3 digit code at the keypad your home phone (or cell phone) is automatically dialed. When you receive the call, you grant access by pushing 9 on your phone keypad and hanging up. The gate is then activated and opens. Also, when someone is coming to your home you should turn on your televi-sion to channel 733 to observe the person at the gate keypad. Unlike the 4 digit code that requires the use of the # key (#1234), the 3 digit code does not use #, just the assigned 3 digits. If you do not know your 3 digit code you can scroll to your name at the gate keypad where it is shown, or you should ask in the office for your code. If you believe your 4 digit code is known by too many outsiders, you can arrange with the office to have it changed. Persons who have been given your 4 digit code have access to our community 24/7, which makes it more difficult to determine who used your code. Good security practice assures the safety and well being of all our residents, and helps to insure protection during the summer months for every homeowner when many of our residents are away. Ps: If an incorrect access code is entered 4 times, the keypad is locked for security reasons and only resets after 2 minutes. Access will then only be made via use of a clicker. Clickers are available in the office for $15.00.

A huge thank you to all the great ladies of LHE who made blankets for two local cancer centers. Twenty-two ladies showed up in the Pub on Sunday afternoon, February 9th. Others made blan-kets at home giving us a total of 30 blankets that were delivered to the centers. Your kindness, time and effort were so appreciated by staff and patients.
