Art and Environment

O God we praise you for the small, diminished things; for the health at the edge of our sicknesses, for the moment's quiet in the hours of storm, for the few that held when the many broke and ran, for an answer of love in a mob of hate. We praise you for the minor key, the oblique kindness, the hidden joy. May Jesus Christ understand us in whose name we pray. Amen. Some of you may be interested in the ways in which we have shaped art and environ-ment for Lent: Lent is a season "for the minor key." Lenten time is about reflection and contemplation, a time to examine ourselves--some even would say, a depressing time. The journey we are called to make in Lent is to confront our own mortality, our own frailty and broken-ness, our deep need for redemption and resurrection. So in Lent we journey to the cross. Along the way, our worship space reminds us of the harshness of life. There are no flowers, no celebratory hangings, little light. The sanctu-ary is stark, simple, spare. It reflects "the minor key," the diminished things that speak of death and dying. Together with the liturgy, music, and spoken words, the environment of our worship space serves as another lens--a way for us to see--and a way for Lent to "speak" its meaning to us.

Adoration

MONTHLY - HOLY HOUR The St. Catherine Women’s Council Prayer Reflection and Fatima Holy Hour will take place on: April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. during Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This is a blessed way to join together and invoke God’s powerful love and protection on our church, our families and our world.

The Blessed Mother’s message to Lucia . . . “Jesus wishes to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. I promise salvation to those who embrace it,

and those souls will be loved by God like flowers placed by me to adorn His throne.”

March 13, 2020 Dear Parishioners and Parents, We want to inform you that Michael Medeiros, a musician, who worked at several of our parishes and one school (listed below) was arrested on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 on child molestation charges. SAN MARTÍN I (año 656) 13 de abril
