and as a tested system approved by BOMBA, only Lafarge Plasterboard products are to be used and installed correctly in accordance to Lafarge specification.

ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATION SAMPLE OF BQ LAFARGE PLASTERBOARD RESIDENTIAL SUSPENDED CEILING (SEAMLESS JOINT) Lafarge suspended ceiling system comprising of 9.5mm thick Lafarge Spancheck screw fixed onto manufacturer’s recommended galvanized steel ceiling battens (12mm X 32mm X 0.40mm galvanized steel) at 450mm centers. Boards surface to be flushed finished using 50mm perforated paper tape and Lafarge jointing compound, all fixed in accordance to manufacturer’s instruction and recommendation. Materials. Suspension System - 12mm X 32mm X 0.40mm galvanized steel ceiling batten as recommended by Lafarge Plasterboard Plasterboard lining – Lafarge Spancheck shall conform to BS 1230: Part 1: 1985, Type 1, or A.S.T.M. C36 (Specification for Gypsum Wallboard) thickness 9.5mm, 1220 wide and maximum length, tapered edges as supplied by Lafarge Plasterboard . To be identified by beige face to decorative side and shall carry class ‘O’ approval from BOMBA. Installation. Suspension System – Vertically aligned ceiling battens are anchored to structural framing or concrete soffit at 1200mm max. centers in each direction. Attach ceiling battens horizontally to vertical member. Attach another ceiling battens horizontally @ 450mm centers for plasterboard fixing and adjust the rails to a true and level plane. *NOTE: This suspension system is designed to carry the weight of the ceiling and normal light fittings only and not designed to carry the weight of maintenance personnel. Plasterboard lining - Fix 9.5mm thick Lafarge Spancheck Plasterboard with wrapped edges at right angles to ceiling battens using 25mm screws at 200mm centers in the field of board and at 100mm centers staggered at butt joints, centering butt joints on ceiling battens. Allow a 6mm gap between the plasterboard edges and ends and the wall face. Place screws not less than 10mm and not more than 16mm from board edges and ends. Expansion Joint - Extensive interior ceiling areas with perimeter relief should have expansion or control joints, spaced at not more than 14 metre centres in either direction, and may be positioned to intersect lighting fixtures, heating vents or air diffusers. For extensive interior ceiling areas without perimeter relief, expansion or control joint should be spaced at 9 metre centres maximum.

Lafarge Plasterboard - Architectural Services Department Ceiling insulation (if required). Lay 50mm Fibreglass insulation (10kg/m3) in ceiling void, ensuring total coverage. Jointing system - To achieve the best results, it is recommended that Lafarge three coat system be used for jointing, using perforated paper tape and Lafarge jointing compound. When thoroughly dry, sand lightly to a smooth finish using sandpaper. Painting - Recommended 2 coats of emulsion paint . ( Note : if Polymer coating is applied to both sides of plasterboards, 3 coats of paint is recommended)
