But who was Lady Gaga before the glitz and glam?

Prior to taking the stage, the pop star was simply Joanne Angelina Germanotta. She briefly attended the Tisch School for the Performing Arts. Not feeling inspired, Germanotta left it all to explore the music scene of New York’s Lower East Side.

At 20, Germanotta wrote music for the Pussycat

Dolls and Britney Spears. It wasn’t until meeting producer Rob Fusari that she assumed her “Lady Gaga” alter ego.

Knowing she idolized Freddie Mercury of Queen, Fusari found it fitting to name her after the Queen hit, “Radio Ga Ga.” Germanotta instantly loved the name and began her transition into a rising star.

Activity – What are you willing to lose? Journal: What would you give up everything for? Lady Gaga gave up everything and walked away from the life she knew to live out her dream. Think about what is important in your life and what you aspire to be. Is the chance to be famous worth possibly losing everything?

Lady Gaga is best recognized by her unique voice, catchy melodies, glitzy clothes and platinum hair.
