  • The intent of the Lackawanna Trail School District Student Dress Policy is to ensure that students dress appropriately, are not disruptive to the educational process, and do not in any way compromise the safety and security of the school. The purpose of this document is to provide a visual representation of acceptable and unacceptable student dress according to Lackawanna Trail Board Policy 221, pupil dress and grooming.

  • All articles of student dress must be appropriately sized to the student and worn properly. Clothing must not be excessively loose or tight Students may not add to, nor subtract from, the approved student dress policy. Student clothing must be maintained in good condition, without holes, rips or tear, or additions.

  • Permitted: Solid color, clean, well- maintained Jeans which are free of holes, rips, etc. Secured at the waist Not Permitted: Excessively baggy or tight pants Yoga, Jeggings, or stretch pants Fatigues, sweat pants, wind pants

  • Permitted: Clean, well-maintained Formal/Dress Style Cargo Pockets Secured at the waist Not Permitted: Gym Shorts, tights, spandex, etc. Jean shorts Fatigues Shorter than 2 above the knee

  • Permitted: Clean, well- maintained Ankle length to 2 above the knee Not Permitted: Shorter than 2 above the knee with tights Note: Skirts, skorts, and dresses may only be worn by female students. Blouses and dresses can be augmented with a sweater to meet the modesty expectation of the dress policy.

  • Permitted: Collared, button-down, dress or polo style Long or short sleeved Ladies may wear a dressy blouse Not Permitted: T-shirts, long or short-sleeved Shirts without sleeves Tank Tops More than 2 buttons unbuttoned at the throat Logos that are larger than 3x 3 Homemade or self-constructed shirts or logos Writing other than a logo which is in accordance with the dress policy Bare or exposed midriffs Note: A t-shirt, long sleeve t-shirt or turtleneck may be worn underneath an approved shirt.

  • Permitted: Solid color, patterned, stripes or plaid Clean, well-maintained Crewneck sweatshirts Shirts or turtlenecks under a sweater or sweatshirt Not Permitted: Hooded sweatshirts Writing larger than 3 x 3 logo Unzipped sweatshirts Note: A collared shirt or turtleneck may be worn underneath the sweatshirt or sweater.

  • Permitted: T-Shirts, long or short sleeved. Athletic shirts Sweatpants, yoga pants Athletic shorts Sweatshirts Sneakers Note: all P.E. clothes should be comfortable and conform to the teachers expectations. They should only be worn during physical education instruction.

  • Students may wear business-casual or formal attire Men: Mens suits or sport coats with solid color pants, dress shoes, dress shirt and tie Women: Womens dresses or suits must otherwise conform with dress policy expectations of modesty (may wear formal blouse) Note: formal attire must also meet the standard expectations of the dress code policy

  • Permitted: Headbands Dress Scarves Not Permitted: Hats Sunglasses Scarves (Winter) Jackets or outerwear Skull caps, bandanas Note: These items may be worn to school but not during instructional hours (7:45am-2:23pm).

  • Not Permitted: Printing, sayings, scenes, or similar content Homemade, customized, or altered logos. Logos larger than 3 x 3 Note: Lackawanna Trail logos are permitted on all items of student dress and are not limited in size on designated Spirit Days only.

  • Spirit Days Permitted: School-sponsored, Lackawanna Trail logos of any size Lackawanna Trail Sports Jerseys, game- day wear Officially designated team/activity apparel that otherwise conforms to the dress code policy Not Permitted: Logos which are not affiliated with the Lackawanna Trail school district Advertisements Note: Spirit days will be designated and communicated by administration.
