We had a good time inPyinsalu. Being close toBay of Bengal, Pyinsaluhas temperate climate. Itsmain roads are straight. The town has green andlush groves of trees andlandscaping plants.
On its left side is arural housing area inwhich houses are built inrows. Every road has theirsignboards. So, it waspleasant to view the town.
In Pyinsalu also, eachhouse has 10 small rowsof 10 species of vegeta-bles such as gourd, roselle, coriander, egg plant, pea, water cress and lady's fin-ger plant. They earn extramoney from the vegeta-ble patches. Fishermen
have restored their busi-nesses and got regular in-comes. So, they are doingwell in their businesses.
We visited the sitesaround Pyinsalu, whichwas found attractive withthe sea in the background.
Next, we left Pyinsaluby speedboat for Thitpokvillage of Pyin Alan vil-lage-tract. The scenesalong the way were natu-rally beautiful in a differ-ent way. Now, Thitpokmodel village has 250houses built by Wah WahWin Co, and 100 otherones are under construc-tion.
The village was es-tablished from a distancefrom the river. The mainroad passes through themiddle of the village. There, each house has 10small rows of 10 speciesof vegetables.
Then, we proceededto Polaung model village. The village was so lovelythat it was like a colourfulpicture. It is the nearestvillage to the Bay of Ben-

So far, Wah Wah WinCo has built 400 houses inPolaung model village ofPyin Alan village-tract.The houses were foundlovely and durable andwere built through goodplanning.
Then, we returned toLabutta from Polaungmodel village which has
possessed all characters ofa model village. On theway to Labutta, we held ameeting with Chairman ofLabutta District Peace andDevelopment Council UAye Maung Kyi. He said,“Now, these regions havedeveloped a lot with highliving standard of localpeople. And trade is nowgood. What we have to doto improve the present liv-

When we got to theYway River in the eastof Labutta, it was sun-down, and we enjoyedthe beauty of sunset. Thedevelopment of Labuttais, indeed, very encour-aging.

inherited traits and diseases. These findings challengethe fundamental principlesof genetics and inheritance, and potentially provide anew insight into the primarycauses of human diseases.Your mother's eyes, yourfather's height, yourpredisposition to disease--these are traits inherited
from your parents.Traditionally, 'heritability'is estimated by comparingmonozygotic (geneticallyidentical) twins todizygotic (geneticallydifferent) twins. A trait ordisease is called heritableif monozygotic twins aremore similar to each otherthan dizygotic twins. Inmolecular terms, heri-tability has traditionallybeen attributed tovariations in the DNAsequence.
CAMH's Dr. ArtPetronis, head of theKrembil Family Epige-netics Laboratory, and histeam conducted acomprehensive epige-netic analysis of 100 setsof monozygotic anddizygotic twins in the firststudy of its kind. Said Dr.Petronis, “We investi-gated molecules thatattach to DNA andregulate various geneactivities. These DNAmodifications are calledepigenetic factors.”

LONDON, 21 Jan — Language in humans hasevolved culturally rather than genetically, accordingto a study by UCL (University College London) andUS researchers. By modelling the ways in whichgenes for language might have evolved alongsidelanguage itself, the study showed that genetic adapta-tion to language would be highly unlikely, as culturalconventions change much more rapidly than genes. Thus, the biological machinery upon which human

language is built appears to predate the emergence oflanguage.
According to a phenomenon known as theBaldwin effect, characteristics that are learned ordeveloped over a lifespan may become graduallyencoded in the genome over many generations, be-cause organisms with a stronger predisposition toacquire a trait have a selective advantage. Over gen-erations, the amount of environmental exposure re-quired to develop the trait decreases, and eventuallyno environmental exposure may be needed - the traitis genetically encoded.

ter City failed this week if they tried to lure his team-mate Kaka away from the San Siro.
City were prepared to smash the world transferrecord to take Kaka to England but were rebuffed asthe Brazilian opted to stay at Milan.
However, Emerson feels the pulling power ofhis former club Madrid, who have long been linkedwith a move for Kaka, means they would stand amuch better chance of landing his compatriot if theywere to launch a bid.
“I’ve said all along that Madrid have wantedKaka for the last two years. To be a real top player youhave to play for Madrid. If Kaka has the chance to goto Madrid, he shouldn't think twice about it,” saidEmerson, who spent a season at Madrid before join-ing Milan in 2007.—Internet
satellite data are being used to identify undergroundwater resources in the drought-prone country.
Due to the rainfall variability in time and inspace, during recent years the rain-fed agriculturestruggles to meet the requirements of food security inthe Sahel area.
ESA’s WADE (Water resources Assessmentusing SAR in Desert and arid lands in West AfricanEcosystems) project, funded by the Data User Ele-ment (DUE), uses ERS and Envisat Synthetic Aper-ture Radar (SAR) imagery to map and monitor thelocation and extent of surface water bodies and toidentify potential areas for water infiltration.
Having access to these maps will help localwater authorities to better manage their water re-sources, lead livestock to water and improve theirwater storage capacity.
