Laboratory Animal Veterinary Technician A Contract Support Organization seeks candidate to fill the position for a Laboratory Animal Veterinary Technician. Description: Laboratory Veterinary Technician will provide technical support to veterinarians by caring for animals and assisting in the diagnosis, clinical monitoring, and treatment of animals. Monitor and perform all duties of normal laboratory animal care, including equipment operation, administration, and supply monitoring. Education/Requirements: A minimum of one of the following must be held by the Laboratory Veterinary Technician: A diploma in a 2 or 3 year Animal Health Technology (CALAS/ACSAL approved) Veterinary Technician Program from an accredited post-secondary institution; Registration as a Registered Laboratory Animal Technician; or A minimum two years of experience with laboratory animals. General Duties: As required, the ability to perform intraperitoneal, intravenous, intramuscular, and subcutaneous injections as well as oral dosing on a variety of laboratory animals (dogs, rodent and rabbits); The ability to collect biological specimens such as blood by different routes (intravenous, cardiac, abdominal aorta), and urine; Perform necropsies on a variety of species; Schedule and ensure completion of work assigned; Assess clinical health status of animals; Perform detailed clinical observations of animals; Inspect and receive animal and supply shipments according to documented procedures; Be able to perform basic data entry (body weight, food weight, observations) into computerized systems; Monitor animal care procedures and protocols in order to ensure implementation. The Laboratory Veterinary Technician shall also observe, record, and report any abnormal animal health to area management; Comply with departmental procedures to ensure the security of the animal facility; Ability to work weekends and after-hours if requested. Description:

Laboratory Veterinary Technician will provide technical support to veterinarians by caring for animals and assisting in the diagnosis, clinical monitoring, and treatment of animals. Monitor and perform all duties of normal laboratory animal care, including equipment operation, administration, and supply monitoring.
