Lab Safety
The procedures below apply to your science classroom and laboratory. You and your
parents/guardian shall read and sign this form, then return it to your teacher.
No lab work will be allowed until this form is
signed and returned.
Lab Safety
• Inappropriate behavior, such as horseplay, during a lab can be dangerous and will result in removal from the lab
Lab Safety
• Any equipment broken due to careless activities will be paid for by the student(s) involved.
Lab Safety
• Read all directions carefully before proceeding with an experiment or activity.
Lab Safety
• Know where the fire extinguisher and fire blanket are located and how to use them.

• Broken glass must be swept by a broom and placed into the “broken glass” container. . . . . .
Never pick up glass with your fingers
Lab Safety
• Do not taste, smell or mix unknown substances unless told to do so. These activities can be dangerous.

• Tie back long hair when working with microscopes.

• Classroom injuries, No matter how minor, must be reported to the teacher at once.

• Respect all electrical outlets and cords. Grasp plug firmly when plugging and unplugging equipment.

• Know emergency procedures for fire, tornadoes, and lock down.
Lab Safety
• Goggles must be worn if an activity could cause eye injury. If directions require goggles you must wear them.

• Eating is allowed during 1st hour for breakfast. Other eating will be at teachers discretion.
• Gum is on a trial basis, if I find gum on my floors and under the desks/chairs then gum will not be allowed in class.
Lab Safety
• Do not remove any equipment or chemicals from the science classroom without permission from your teacher.
• If you are caught with lab equipment outside the classroom, it will be considered a weapon and we will follow the school district weapons policy.
