Bomb Threat
If you receive a threatening call take it seriously. Do not dismiss the caller. This could be a real threat. The safety and well-being of your fellow employees may be at risk.
Record the caller’s phone number (if it is displayed on your phone).
Record the time of the call (this may help law enforcement trace the call).
Try to engage the person making the threat to get possible clues about the
bomb’s location and characteristics of the person making the threat (age,
sex, mental state, background noise, etc.).
If the caller gives a location or a description of the bomb write this information down so that law enforcement has a copy of the information.
If the caller gives information about a particular department or office please document this information. This may help law enforcement in identifying the caller.
Tell the caller to contact 911 to report the bomb. This will allow for a trace on the call.
Please familiarize yourself with the Bomb Threat Checklist on the following page to help gather as much information as quickly as
possible.
