Not to worry though, well sum it up for you right here! School officials announced that the sports field opening was delayed for 2 main reasons: 1. the grass needed time to mature; and 2. the school is working out a 10 year agreement with the City of Carlsbad, in which the City would maintain the fields as they would any other City of Carlsbad park. This agreement is in the review and approval process with the City of Carlsbad and San Dieguito Unified High School District and when approved, the sports field will be opened to the public. However, at the request of some of the La Costa Valley residents in the audience at the Board Meeting, the school district agreed to roll out a soft opening. As such, the pedestrian gates are now unlocked and will remain unlocked. The vehicle gates and restrooms will only be unlocked for any athletic practices or events on the property. A complete opening of the facilities is expected in the near future.

School Site-Sports Field Update

If you missed the last Board of Directors meeting, you missed the

updates concerning the sports field across the street from the Valley

Club. Not to worry though, we’ll sum it up for you right here!

School officials announced that the sports field opening was delayed

for 2 main reasons: 1. the grass needed time to mature; and 2. the

school is working out a 10 year agreement with the City of Carlsbad,

in which the City would maintain the fields as they would any other

City of Carlsbad park.

This agreement is in the review and approval process with the City of

Carlsbad and San Dieguito Unified High School District and when

approved, the sports field will be opened to the public. However, at

the request of some of the La Costa Valley residents in the audience

at the Board Meeting, the school district agreed to roll out a “soft

opening.” As such, the pedestrian gates are now unlocked and will

remain unlocked. The vehicle gates and restrooms will only be

unlocked for any athletic practices or events on the property. A

complete opening of the facilities is expected in the near future.
