Position the Los Angeles Clippers organization as a responsible corporate citizen in the Greater Los Angeles Area through community outreach programs that support the

mission of the NBA and are committed to promoting positive educational, civic, environmental and humanitarian values. in addition, through community programming, create

effective result-driven corporate, community and civic partnerships, which benefit children in Greater Los Angeles.

Reaching beyond our sport to enhance the lives of children and families in our community is of paramount

importance to our organization. our community outreach initiatives are designed to create a positive and lasting

impact in Southern California. We’re proud that our unique position ensures our ongoing role as an active and

productive corporate citizen in Greater Los Angeles.

This 2011 Community Report reviews our many community programs and outlines our growth. each season we

set out to increase the number of lives we can positively influence through children’s organizations focusing on

educational development, health and fitness. This past season, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles

Clippers Foundation donated in excess of $1.3 million dollars in tickets, merchandise and grants to local groups

which meet the criteria of our Mission.

The support of our fan base and our corporate partners is essential to our ability to accomplish success on and

off the court. on behalf of our owner, Donald T. Sterling, our players and staff and the Los Angeles Clippers

Foundation, we thank you for helping us help so many others.

Summer clinicSSuMMeR CLiNiCSThe Clippers Summer Clinic Program is a series of free basketball day clinics that

take place during the summer months. each clinic hosts 250 children ages 6 to 14

at different locations in greater Los Angeles. The completion of the 2011 clinic series

will have generated more than 12,000 youth participants in the Clippers Summer

Clinic Program since its inception in 2006. Children in attendance receive instruction

in the fundamentals of basketball, lunch, clinic T-shirts, gift bags and books courtesy

of the Clippers Read to Achieve Program.

each season Clippers owner Donald T. Sterling donates game tickets to host children’s charities and community

groups. During the 2010-11 season 500 organizations received in excess of 50,000 tickets for local children and

their families. Community leaders from groups in attendance were invited to meet with Mr. Sterling pregame and

discuss their programs and community initiatives. Mr. Sterling has donated over 322,000 tickets to more than

2,500 community groups in the last eight seasons.

The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation partnered with Feed The Children for the third season to provide 3,200

South Los Angeles families food. The families that benefit from these special days are selected based on need

from a variety of different community organizations including The Salvation Army and Los Angeles Department of

Recreation and Parks. We intend to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children and families in Los

Angeles where many go hungry.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the additional donations and

care packages that we received from the Los Angeles Clippers through your Feed

the Community event in December. We are grateful for you commitment to help St.

Joseph Center meet rising demand for assistance.

teamwoRk at the tableTeAMWoRk AT THe TABLeThe Los Angeles Clippers Thanksgiving event has served more than 650 Thanksgiving meals to homeless individuals

at the Bread and Roses Café and provided more than 8,900 families with food at St. Joseph Center. Additionally,

since the 1998-99 season, the Los Angeles Clippers Foundation has clothed more than 9,000 individuals during

the Teamwork at the Table Clothing Drive. During the month of November, the Clippers serve hot Thanksgiving

meals complete with all of the trimmings to members of the Bread & Roses Café in Venice. Additionally, at St.

Joseph Center, 350 families receive Thanksgiving food baskets with turkeys and all of the trimmings. Families

from St. Joseph Center also receive clothing as part of a month long clothing drive as well as books courtesy of the

Clippers Read to Achieve Program.

ClippeRs season of givingCLiPPeRS SeASoN oF GiViNGADoPT A FAMiLy

The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation celebrated the holiday season by providing families in need with holiday gifts, food and much more. The families were selected from the Salvation Army

Siemon Family youth & Community Center in South Los Angeles. Children and their parents joined Clippers players for lunch and participated in a reading time-out featuring holiday-themed

books. Following the reading, players distributed gifts including toys, clothing and assistance with rent during the holiday season.

CLiPPeRS Toy DRiVe

During the Clippers Season of Giving, toy donations from Clippers fans and corporate partners were collected at home games during the month of December. New and gently used toys are then

donated to the following area organizations: Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, Reach Back LA, and the Salvation Army Siemon Family youth & Community Center.

in conjunction with the Los Angeles Clippers Foundation, Clippers players host

groups of children and make it possible for them to join in the fun and excitement

of watching a Clippers game. Clippers players sponsor hundreds of children each

season. All children receive goody bags, a chance to watch the pre-game warm up

courtside and the opportunity to meet their player host up close and personal.

Clippers season ticket holders give back to the community by donating their unused game tickets to children.

The community relations department provides youth with the chance to attend a Clippers home game through

donated tickets.

BiG BuDDy NiGHT

The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation works with corporate sponsors providing Clippers home game tickets for local

youth. Attendance at a professional sporting event for thousands of children who may not have the opportunity

becomes an exciting reality as they enjoy the excitement of the NBA on this very special night.

Read to aChieveReAD To ACHieVe

The Los Angeles Clippers Read to Achieve Program challenges children in elementary, middle and high school

to take time out to read. Students track the number of books they read and the minutes they spend reading. in

addition, elementary and middle school students participate in the Storybook Challenge by working as a team with

their class creating a storybook. High school students track the number of books and minutes they spend reading

to younger children. They also have the opportunity to participate in the Poetry Slam N’ Jam by taking time out to

celebrate the written word through a creative poem or rap. All students participate in the program in a quest to

become Los Angeles Clippers Student Reading All-Stars. School visits by Clippers players, Community kids Awards

tickets, game tickets, books, bookmarks, T-shirts and grants are also incentives provided by the program. The goal

of Read to Achieve is to build a lifelong love of reading in young people and provide greater access to books and

technology while encouraging families and adults to read regularly with young children.

The Clippers have established Reading & Learning Centers and a Reading Corner with local community partners.

our Reading & Learning Centers are echo Park Boys & Girls Club, A Place Called Home, and the Salvation Army

Siemon Family youth and Community Center. Additionally, Children’s institute incorporated hosts as the site of a

Reading Corner.

Clippers players and staff visit these sites to host reading time-outs with children from the local community.

All children receive Read to Achieve T-shirts, books, Clippers items and autographs from their favorite

Clippers players.

READ TO ACHIEVEReAD To ACHieVe ViSiTS &PRoGRAM WiNNeRS

The Read to Achieve Program involved 71 schools with more than 36,350 students

from elementary, middle and high schools. over 2,000 books were donated to schools

and community groups courtesy of the Los Angeles Clippers Foundation. 74th

Street elementary School in Los Angeles and West Middle School in Downey were

chosen to receive a reading time-out and Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale

received tickets to a Clippers game due to the combined minutes read by all of the

participating students at each school during the Clippers Read to Achieve Reading

Minutes Challenge. Fifteen Reading All-Stars, students that read the most minutes,

each received a plaque and were honored during the Clippers Community kids Awards

ceremony at STAPLeS Center prior to a Clippers home game. in addition, San Gabriel

Mission elementary in San Gabriel and Robert F. kennedy elementary in Compton

were honored and received a $2,000 grant for excelling in the Storybook Challenge.

Read to aChieve sCholaRshipReAD To ACHieVe STAy iN SCHooL SCHoLARSHiP PRoGRAM

The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation offers an opportunity to assist college-bound students. Four $2,500 Stay in School Scholarships are offered to seniors planning to attend

a four-year college. Scholarships are made available to students residing in the Greater Los Angeles Area.

ClippeRs fit - nba fitCLiPPeRS FiT - NBA FiT

The Los Angeles Clippers FiT Program is part of NBA FiT, the NBA’s comprehensive health and wellness platform

promoting healthy, active lifestyles for children and adults. The initiative encourages physical activity and healthy

living through products, events and programs for children and families.

The Clippers FiT Program had more than 16,650 students participate from 22 elementary and middle schools.

Members of the Los Angeles Clippers visited local schools recognizing the school’s outstanding physical activity

accomplishments. Blessed Sacrament School in Hollywood excelled above other entries with the combined physical

activity minutes by their participating students during the Clippers FiT Minutes Challenge.

The Clippers recognized the top 10 students who achieved the most activity minutes as Clippers FiT Squad

Members. each student received a plaque and was honored during the Clippers Community kids Awards ceremony

at STAPLeS Center prior to a Clippers home game.

The Clippers and the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks collaborated for the last 11 seasons to

promote the fundamentals of basketball, sportsmanship and athletics as an alternative to negative influences. in

2001, the program began with 750 participants from three centers: Normandie, Shatto and Queen Anne. Now in

its 10th year, the program has grown including more than 2,000 participants from 12 centers. Recreation centers

include Alpine, expo Center, Hubert Humphrey, imperial, Jordan Downs, LACeS, Nickerson, Normandie, Rancho

Cienega Sports Complex, Robertson, Rosecrans, and Shatto. The Junior Clippers program serves inner-city children,

ages 5 thru 15. The season runs from early January through the end of March, culminating with a championship

tournament in early April. The Junior Clippers program also includes two clinics. one of the clinics held at an

inner-city recreation center and one held at STAPLeS Center prior to a Clippers home game. The Clinic Series

includes basketball fundamentals, health & nutrition, and sportsmanship.

ChairmenLoS ANGeLeS CLiPPeRS CHAiRMeNWheelchair basketball began as rehabilitation for soldiers returning from World War

ii and was formalized as a competitive sport in 1948, just one season after the NBA.

The Los Angeles Clippers Chairmen wheelchair basketball team enters its 9th season

as part of the Clippers family. The Clippers team up with the National Wheelchair

Basketball Association to sponsor the Clippers Chairmen. Formerly the Pasadena Big

Wheels, this second division NWBA team finished the 2010-11 season ranked 19th

in the nation. The Clippers Wheelchair players are not only chairmen of the court,

they also participate with the Clippers community outreach to children directing youth

to a positive life path.

The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation is a nonprofit entity established to increase the Clippers’ support for the

surrounding communities. The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation has raised more than $6 million dollars and

donated over $4.3 million in grants and in-kind donations to children’s organizations and charities in Southern

California, since its inception in 1994.

The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation hosted the 2010 Charity Golf Classic at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. This exciting day of golf provided season ticket

holders, sponsors and the general public an opportunity for exclusive interaction with their favorite Clippers players while raising funds benefiting the Los Angeles Clippers

Foundation and local children’s charities.

The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation annual Charity BasketBowl Challenge event hosts an exciting interactive day of bowling where the entire Clippers team bowls with corporate

partners and Clippers fans of all ages to benefit local charities.

small gRants pRogRamSMALL GRANTS PRoGRAM

each season the Los Angeles Clippers Foundation gives back to the community in the form of small grants.

Nonprofit organizations requesting grants must have programs that benefit children in Southern California. Programs

must also benefit more than 50 children. The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation granted more than $180,000 to

local organizations during the last six seasons.

The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation promotes positive educational, civic, environmental and humanitarian values

through community outreach programs. our donations primarily focus on nonprofit organizations benefiting children

located in Southern California. each season’s donations include tickets, merchandise and autographed memorabilia.

The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation will continue teaming up with sponsors, community organizations and media

outlets providing quality community programs, scholarships and other opportunities for the youth in and about the

Greater Los Angeles Area.

donation guidelinesDoNATioN GuiDeLiNeS

The Community Relations Department handles all donation requests. only written requests on an organization’s

letterhead submitted to the attention of the Community Relations Department at least 45 days in advance of

the scheduled event receive acceptance. Requests must include a copy of the organization’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit

documentation.

each request receives individual attention with priority for events, organizations and charities benefiting children

in Southern California. Priority also applies for events that take place during the NBA season. out-of-state requests

receive a decline unless special circumstances warrant further consideration.

Autographed items are donated to major fund-raisers/auctions in the Los Angeles area, while smaller items are

donated for raffle prizes, incentive prizes, block parties, school carnivals, etc. Schools or community groups

involved in Clippers community outreach programs receive additional consideration.

A limit of one request per season exists for all organizations and charities. Consideration for future Clippers

donations rely on the timely completion of the Clippers item Donation Form. Completed forms due two weeks after

the date of the event.
