ROM Introduction
SiRFstarIV™ GSD4e GPS engine schedules the generation of ROM
firmware to extend more advanced features.L30 uses the newest version – ROM1.3
ROM1.3 • Improved the shortcomings of the last version• All-around functionalities are integrated in the module without using the extra Patch• Automatically use the CGEE data from EEPROM. Additional commands are
unnecessary
ROM2.0 - available at the end of 2011• Adaptive uPower 125uA with optional Accelerometer interrupt• 5Hz navigation update rate• Compass heading with the help of 3-D Magnetometer

Self-Assisted CGEE (1)
Shortcomings of Standalone GPS• Receiving ephemeris from satellites needs over 30 seconds• In the condition of weak signals, it is more difficult to fix.
Shortcomings of Traditional online A-GPS (SUPL, uB*** - AssistNow online)
• Require the wireless network coverage areas.• Consume time to establish a wireless connection
and receive data.
Shortcomings of Traditional offline A-GPS (uB*** - AssistNow offline)
• Periodic request of offline data. It is inconvenient for end-users.• Customers must provide service for download data for end-users.

Self-Assisted CGEE (Client Generated Extended Ephemeris)
• Without the necessity of data download from serversince it captures ephemeris data from satellites locallyand predicts ephemeris within the next 3 days.
Self-Assisted CGEE (2)
• An external EEPROM is used for datastorage.
• CGEE function is enabled automaticallywithout any command input.
• Achieve Warm Start faster with shorterTTFF while in weak GPS visibility conditionslike urban environment.

receiver performance (1)
Benefiting from high-speed location engine and strict design:
• High sensitivity navigation engine
• 48 track verification channels
• Integrated LNA
• SAW filter design
L30 achieves:
• Enhanced receiver sensitivity and navigation performance
• Greater coverage
• Reduced time to fix
• Improved positional accuracy

When driving to enter the tunnel, Quectel module L30 still can
track and trace for about 15s, but uCompany NEX-6 can not.

Quectel module L30 can position accurately and provide real information
about the road , but uCompany NEX-6 can not position as accurately as
L30 and deviated from the road, when driving under overhead road.

Low-power design (1)
Based on rigorous hardware design and adaptive micro-power
controller, L30 features the lowest current consumption in
acquiring, tracking and hibernate states.
The following data is measured in the condition of open sky @ -130dBm.
State Typical value
Acquisition 40mA
Tracking 36mA
Hibernate 17uA

Various power saving modes are offered to meet demanding applications that
have different requirements in position report interval and power consumption.
Low-power design (2)
Adaptive Trickle Power (ATP) mode
• Cycles three states internally to optimize power consumption and provides a constant output rate.
• Adaptively returns to full power so that message output rates remain constant even in difficult environments.
• Give performance very similar to full power, but with significant power savings in strong-signal conditions. Typically, 10mW for 1Hz output rate.

Push To Fix (PTF) mode
• Wakes up periodically, typically every 1800 sec (configurable range 10 ~ 7200 sec) for updating position and collecting new ephemeris data from valid satellites.
• Stays in hibernate mode in the rest of the time.• Supply a position within the Hot Start time specification, designed for the application
that requires infrequent position reporting.• Only 50 ~ 500μA maintains Hot Start capability.
