30 Years of Experience in Process Analytics
Thirty years of experience in process
density and concentration measurement are embodied
in the L-Dens 4X7 series of density sensors from Anton Paar. They are
ideal for use in the petroleum, chemical and beverage industries.
Using continuous density measurement with L-Dens 4X7 sensors allows you to increase your
plant’s productivity. Consumption of raw materials and energy is minimized and the production
runs at maximum capacity. L-Dens 4X7 sensors have low operating and integration costs and
provide precise results. The wide range of L-Dens 4X7 sensors includes different materials,
process connections and electrical interfaces to ensure the best integration into your plant.
➤ Low integration costs
To keep your costs for integration as low as possible, the L-Dens 4X7 sensors are small, lightweight and compact. They are mounted with minimum integration work directly in-line or in a bypass and require no extra support. The sensors come with standard data interfaces and therefore allow quick connection to common PLCs and flow computers.
➤ Fit and forget
After installation the robust sensors measure for years with the highest precision. L-Dens 4X7 sensors have no moving parts and therefore require no maintenance. You can fit the sensor and forget it, simply relying on measurement at the highest accuracy.
➤ Long life
The L-Dens 4X7 density sensors are developed for the long run. Today, density sensors from Anton Paar which were installed in the mid-1980s are still delivering reliable values with the same high level of accuracy as on their first day in operation.
➤ Highest accuracy
L-Dens 4X7 sensors measure with the highest precision. A measuring accuracy of 0.0001 g/cm³ is outstanding for density measurement in process. This accuracy makes them ideal for use in custody transfer.

➤ Material – wetted parts
The ”X“ in the sensor name stands for the material of the wetted parts: Stainless steel or Hastelloy. Choose a material to suit the corrosiveness of your sample and cleaning agent. Anton Paar‘s team of specialists helps you choose the right L-Dens 4X7 sensor for your application.
➤ Connection
An L-Dens 4X7 sensor can be installed directly in the production line or in a bypass. The sensor is compact and only weighs around 3 kilograms. It can be easily integrated into measuring stations or skids without costly changes to pipelines.
You choose the connection to suit your plant: Varivent®, Swagelok®, DIN, and ANSI adapters. Custom-made connections are available on request.
➤ Interfaces
The L-Dens 4X7 sensors use a data interface compatible to your process control system.
Straight to the Anton Paar evaluation unit: L-Dens 4X7E The powerful Anton Paar evaluation unit mPDS 1100 or mPDS 5
calculates the compensated density, concentration values or further deduced properties and makes them available at standard interfaces. To make life easier, the evaluation units are simple to configure and the results are easy to read off the display.
Straight to the PLC: L-Dens 4X7T L-Dens 4X7T measures density and temperature and calculates the
compensated density or concentrations. The Modbus and HART interfaces with the 4 to 20 mA analog signal enable simple connection to your control system.
Straight to the flow computer: L-Dens 4X7F The frequency output transfers a signal which is proportional to the
oscillating frequency to the flow computer. Together with the measured fluid temperature the density is calculated in the flow computer.

➤ Protection
The L-Dens 4X7 sensors meet your safety requirements. Choose the ATEX-, FM- and IECEx-approved sensors for installation in a hazardous area.
➤ Applications
The L-Dens 4X7 series measures density at a high level of accuracy. The sensors are designed for fiscal measurements, determination of concentration and phase recognition. Exact monitoring of production with an L-Dens 4X7 sensor results in increased productivity and reduced consumption of raw materials and energy.
