Types of USB Switching Technology
» Enumerated USB switching is similar to the user unplugging and plugging the cables. Switchover delays can be experienced, and hotkey and mouse switching is not supported.
» Emulated USB switching is when the KVM switch provides idle keyboard and mouse information to inactive ports—the CPU thinks the device is still attached.
» True USB Emulation switching is where the KVM switch provides specific USB device information to inactive ports. It enables graphics tablets, jog wheels, pens, etc. to be attached to the switch.

» Common Criteria Evaluation (EAL4+)» Enables customers to assess a level of trust in how a product has been designed, tested, built, and shipped.
» TEMPEST» Tests are classified but are thought to deal with assessing the threat of data leaking by various covert electromagnetic leakage mechanisms.

Server Room Switching
» Traditional KVM switches provided control and management for multiple
servers yet required the administrator to be local to the switch.
» Customers are challenged to do more with less.
» Budgets are tight and people are stressed.
Evolution in technology makes it easy to permit IP access for your administrators.
