need for speedTHE ST. MORITZ OLYMPIC BOB RUNBob-taxi rideUnder the name of the St. Moritz Bob Run, the world’s one and only natural-ice bobsleigh run’s 10,000 m3 of perfectly shaped snow-turned-into-ice is the world’s largest ice sculpture. It is located in the grounds of Kulm Hotel St. Moritz.

Accompanied by two professional bobsleigh pilots, we invite you to thunder in a 4-man bob taxi down the Olympic run’s 1,722 metres in 75 seconds, at 135 kilo-metres an hour, to the finish line at Celerina. At up to 4 g’s - four times the force of gravity - a serious adrenaline rush is pre-programmed!

Mono-bob schoolThe mono-bob sport is still a young discipline, where the pilot is self-depen-dent for all parts of the ride. Push-starting, steering and breaking the ‘Kulm Hotel & Grand Hotel Kronenhof’ mono-bob are part of the 3-day course, which includes daily access to the bob run, 2 training rides, video analysis and in-depth introduction.

ST. MORITZ CRESTA RUNYou can also engage in some heavy-duty sleighing down the legendary, natural-ice Cresta Run. The 1.2 km run includes slopes with an 8.7% incline. Satisfying anyone’s need for speed, its ten curves, especially the supremely challenging Shuttlecock bend, infamous for many unplanned excursions, will give you a shot of adrenaline you will remember for a long time.

At the Men-Only Club, established in 1887, private training courses are availa-ble for beginners. On day one, highly experienced Cresta riders familiarize you with the basics, in preparation for your initial three runs which mark the end of your beginner status and qualify you for inclusion in the Supplementary List.

150 years of winter tourismOne hundred and fifty years ago, legendary hotel pioneer Johannes Badrutt laid the cornerstone for the Kulm Hotel’s success and with it, Switzerland’s Alpine luxury hotel industry.

We are proud to be the point of origin of this exemplary piece of history. In what has become known as the cradle of winter tourism, pioneer Johannes Badrutt challenged his guests with an extraordinary bet: To make winter an equal attraction to summer by inviting his guests from the UK to holiday at our hotel in the snowy as well as in the more customary summer season. The Engadine’s sunny, inspiring snowscape left history’s first Alpine winter tourists in awe and they returned in spring to their home country with a splendid tan.

BEHIND THE SCENESCelebrating the 150th anniversary of winter tourism and the pioneering role our traditional establishment, under the management of Johannes Badrutt, played in creating an entire tourist region, we are pleased to invite you to a unique, authentic stay and a look behind the scenes in our hotel.

Dine 19th-century style in Johannes Badrutt’s original study, enjoy a four-course gourmet dinner, accompanied by specially selected wines. Don’t miss this unique experience, available this winter only as an important part of our anniversary celebrations.

Price: CHF 295 per person, available from 2 personsFor half-board guests there is a CHF 180 surcharge per person.

Take a closer look at our special anniversary package:‘150 years of winter tourism’, 3 overnight stays from CHF 1,420 per person

Please consult our ‘packages & rates winter 2014 /15’ brochure for more details about this package, or go to www.kulm.com.
