systems and services
Water: Critical for Agriculture
Rice cropping intensity ranges from 100-168% when rain fed and 111-242%
when irrigation system is used
Irrigating pumps can increase rice yields by an extra ton per hectare
In Vietnam between 1990 and 2008, annual production doubled (19-38 million
tons) and planted area increased by 20% due to irrigation systems and selective
breeding
Tailored to Meet Every End-User’s
Need
Drip irrigation
Source to reservoir
Source to storage tank
Community water source
Solar Pump Advantages
• Solar systems pay back
period is around 2-3 years,
after that it’s free pumping!
• Solar energy is a free and
reliable energy
• Compared to diesel, solar
systems also reduce CO2
emissions equivalent to about
4 tons each year (~1 car, or
23 mangrove trees)
Impact on Villager’s Livelihood

Sustainability Considerations Technical sustainability
• For operation and standard maintenance locals are trained - systems
require low (if any) maintenance
• Extra-ordinary maintenance will be covered by Myanmar Eco
Solutions
Social and Economic Sustainability
• Close collaborations with local NGO’s which will organise the
development of local water committees for the management of
pumps, collection of fees and initial contribution to intervention
• After payback of initial investment, generating revolving funds will be
used to scale up
