1 ENGINE

(3) Thermostat The thermostat is wax pellet type, which controls the

flow of the cooling water to the radiator to keep the proper tem peratu re.

The case has a seat (1) and the pellet has a valve (2). The spindle attached to the case is inserted into the synthetic rubbllr in the pellet. The pellet is charged with wax.

(A) At low temperature (lower than B2°C (1BOoF)) The valve (2) is seated by the spring (7) and the cooling

water circulates in the engine through the water return pipe but does not enter the radiator.

(B) At high temperature (higher than B2°C (1BO°F)) As the water temperature rises, the wax in the pellet (3)

turns liquid and expands, repelling the spindle, which causes the pellet to lower. The valve (2) opens to send the cooling water to the rad iator .

(4) Radiator The radiator core consists of water carrying tubes (2)

with fins (3) at a right angle to it. The water in the radiator is cooled by the air flowing

through between the tube wall and the fin. The louverless corrugated fins are light in weight, high in

heat exchange ratio and less in clogging.

8 THREE POINT HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

The three point hydraulic system pump pressure-feeds

the oil drawn from the transmission case through the oil fil­

ter to the control valve.

This hydraulic pump is a pressure loading type geal" pump

with high volumetic efficiency. The hydraulic pump is

driven by the engine fuel camshaft.

• The Kubota Scale Inhibitor No.11 or its equivalent, prevents scale formation in the coolant. Scale which builds up in either hard or soft water sharply reduces cool­ing efficiency.

23) Changing Power Steering Oil (Every 400 Hours)

A CAUTION

L3750(DT) L4150( DT) WSM, 703211

• Before changing the power steering oil, be sure to stop the engine.

1. Disconnect the external pipe joint and drain the oil from line.

2. Fill new oil through the filling port.

3. Start the engine, and remove the plug on the power steering oil tank, then turn the steering wheel slowly in both directions all the way alternately a few times, and stop the engine. Check that the oil level lies between the two notches on the dipstick. If not, replenish the oil.

• IMPORTANT • Be sure to use the recommended oil or equivalent.

Refer to "LUBRICANTS" (See page S.G-3)

24) Cleaning Engine Cooling System (Every 500 Hours)

A CAUTION

• Never remove the radiator cap until coolant temperature is below its boiling point. Then loosen cap slightly to the stop to relieve any excess pressure before removing cap completely.

1. To clean the engine cooling system, Kubota Scale Inhibi­tor No.20, or its equivalent, is recommended to effective­ly wash away scale build-up .

• NOTE • When adding an anti-freeze solution or changing from

water containing anti-freeze to pure, be sure to clean the engine cooling system.

• The scale inhibitor is effective for 3 months, so a com­plete change of coolant must be done every 3 months.

• Do not use a scale inhibitor and an anti-freeze at the same time. This may cause sludge to form, adversely affecting the engine parts.
