Today the main arterial streets running through the Northside consist of: Chase Ave and Blue Rock, Ave crossing though Northside’s historic busniess district bringing in the neighborhoods residents, and Hamilton Ave, coming into Northside from Clifton in the south and running through the neighborhood all the way North to Mt. Healthy--it also constitutes the main corridor of Northside’s busniess district.

The intersection of two interstates highways, I-74 and I-75, form Northside’s southern border

Road Network

Industrial Age & Imapct

Examples of surrounding industrial architecture

The Cincinnati, Hamilton and Dayton railroad opened in 1851, and caused Northside to became a popular destination for industrial companie. The largest company attracted to the area was the American Can Company.

Starting in the Great Depression, Northside’s industry began to suffer and leave the area. Left behind were industrial buildings surroundeding the busniess district over time, they have been taken over by smaller industiral companies, remained vacant, or have had their uses redefined like the American Can Comany building which now holds residential lofts.

Sycamore-Broadway RedevelopmentSelected site bounded east and west by Broadway and Sycamore, and north and south by 13th Street and Central Parkway is not performing to its highest and best use. Assigned to map the site, analyze its current shortcomings and strengths, then design a site plan.

Skills Developed: AutoCAD, Photoshop Site Plan Aerial Color

Page 13: Kubilay Inanli | Portfolio 2015

Currently, this site is mainly used for parking it also does not seem properly planned as old alleyways left standing are rendered obsolete surrounded by surface lots. The residents in and surrounding the site are bearing external costs from workers communitng and parking in their downtown neighborhood. These residents should share in the resulting prosperity of the casino opening while the commuters parking on the site now can use the new parking garage opened on Sycamore.

The proposed site plan is a mixed used development in the center of the selected site. The plan hope to accomodate for increased traffic in the area with a more organized and connected lot featuring a ramp leading to underground parking. The residential units planned on top of mixed retail and office unit structures are inspired by the sucess of the Olde Sycamore Sqaure buidling and hope to serve the residents likely to move into this developing area.
