List of Indicators of Hospital Quality Benchmark

The following indicators can be requested in several levels: hospital wide, (groups of) specialties

(clusters of) ICD / DRG codes and individual specialists. For all themes listed below the most

relevant Key Performance Indicators are mentioned. Apart from this list, in Hospital QualityBenchmarkthere is a choice of about a thousand other performance indicators from which your

hospital can make its own selection.

Main group Theme Subtheme Examples / explanation

    Quality of theprimaryprocess

Safety Mortality Hospital mortality rateHospital mortality rate after ORHospital mortality rate after AMI < 65 years and >= 65 years

Complications Occurrence cardiac arrest/AMI in hospitalFailure to Rescue (mortality rate after complications)Failure to Rescue (mortality rate after OR)% of patients receiving >1 blood transfusion

    Volume high riskinterventions

Absolute annual volume of high risk interventions like main cancersurgeries, Esophagus resection, AAA, PCI etco total for the hospital (the team)o average by specialisto Amount for the specialist performing the least amount of

    surgeries.

Precautions % of patients screened by anesthesiology team prior to operation% cataract surgery of which a vitrectomy was performed
