Electro-Mechanical Valve Product Details

The Kosran Electro-Mechanical Valve System works in a unique way by shutting off the diesel fuel supply and isolating the hydraulic and electrical circuits. The system has a self arming capability, allowing the complete immobilisation of any machine to which the Kosran Electro-Mechanical Valve is fitted. The Kosran System stops anyone without training, competence or authorisation, thief, juvenile or employee, from operating your machine and causing malicious, personal or 3rd party damage. Kosran is unique in what it has to offer, as the systems are designed and manufactured to meet the hostile environment of the construction industry and meet the criteria set by the Home Office for Agricultural and Construction Security Council.

iButton Electro-Mechanical Valve System

The iButton system is supplied with two master iButton fobs and one user fob, an additional 5 user fobs can be supplied and programmed as required at cost of circa £30 each. The iButton allows the operator to de-activate the Kosran ECV by simply placing the iButton fob onto the ‘reader’. Keypad Electro-Mechanical Valve System

In addition to the iButton the Keypad system can be used for de-activating the Kosran ECV System. Up to 20 four digit codes can be programmed at any one time, allowing secure multi-personnel use. Each Driver and Service Engineer can be allocated their own pin code , whilst codes can be selectively erased or changed at any time by authorised users i.e. when the vehicle changes contract and new operators use the machine or should the machine be ‘off hired’. This will guarantee the integrity of the security system at all times.

Comms GPS Electro-Mechanical Valve System

The facilities provided by the Comms Keypad includes all of the theft prevention and security measures discussed, but additionally allows remote vehicle access and control via Internet or ‘Pay As You Go’ SMS Text Tracking is currently charged at £7.50pcm inclusive of all SMS and web charges, charged annually. SIM is provided, however customers could use their own.

encouraging more hire revenue.

The GPS Comms Keypad system allows all the functions above. The tracking and location of machines is done via Google Earth and will only give an exact location of machine (within 1mtr – 5mtrs)

Tracking and Location All of your machines will appear on the map. To zoom in simply click on the machine or on the + symbol

To identify a machine, click on machine Icon and the machine Plant Number/serial number, location co-ordinates will be displayed. If you then require further information such as, machine detail, utilisation, operator usage or serving information click on the links below

Logged Events, This will give you information on the time your machine has been used and date. You can view this by day, week or month. It can also predict future usage, based upon its current working hours (to help with servicing)

Summary of daily usage of all or specific machines

Machine Communication can be done simply by a mobile phone or by PC. You can choose from any of the following commands to control your machinery. The electro-mechanical immobiliser supplied by Sparex must be installed by a Kosran engineer. Installation is included in the price. How will Kosran affect the warranty of newer machines? Warranty terms generally state that if a product is an enhancement, of good quality, correctly installed by certified personnel the warranty will continue to cover the vehicle, excluding the new enhancement. OEM’s have shown interest in this product and have indicated there would not be a problem with this. Customers must check with their warranty provider on a case by case basis as only the warranty provider can provide a definitive answer. Insurance. The product is recognised by Aviva, RSA, Allianz, HSB, Zurich. It isn’t Thatcham accredited, however if the customer calls their insurer often discounts will be available regardless. Home Office Security Guidance Document for Agricultural and Construction Plant (Pub. 50/07) specifies ‘electric immobilisers are ineffective and electro-mechanical immobilisation systems should be used.’ This is supported with a diagram of the Kosran valve. Why won’t NFU Mutual endorse this? NFU Mutual do not have shareholders like other insurers and operate more like an advisory organisation than a commercial business. As such they won’t offer blanket endorsement to anything per se, however will offer discounts on a case by case basis- its worth the customer mentioning the immobiliser when they renew.
