After buying a tent, you should check that it is complete (inner tent + flysheet + poles + pegs) by putting it up, without pegging it, at home or outside. What is more, to maintain the high performance standards of your Ferrino tent, we recommend the following:

Putting up your tent

1. Choosing the area

- Do not pitch your tent beneath trees that release resin or other substances that could ruin the fabric.

- It is better to put the tent up on a slight slope or a moderate rise rather than having to dig a drainage ditch around it.

- Clean away any scrub, stones or anything that could damage the floor of the inner tent.

- Choose a shady area or one that is not totally exposed to sunlight: prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays can alter the colours and even the stability of the tent fabric, causing progressive degradation.

- It is best to place an extra waterproof ground sheet between the tent floor and the ground; this extra precaution will help to prolong the life of your tent.

2. Fixing

- The pole arches must be correctly inserted into the corresponding joints (incorrect insertion may cause the poles to break).

- The elastic within the poles serves to hold individual components together and does not automatically fix the poles together, as might be believed.

- Make sure that the zip cursors can run freely. Remember to close the zips before pegging the tent.

- Make sure that the flysheet is fixed in all points, both on the ground and on the poles.

- The pegs must be positioned at opposite angles to the ropes.

- Reduce the tension of elastics, guylines and poles to prevent excessive tension on the fabric, which could cause the zips to break or the fabric itself to fray.

- It is normal for a tent that was well pitched during the day to appear loose in the morning and vice versa: the synthetic fabrics used are subject to variations in size according to climate. If they are exposed to the sun, they tighten significantly, while they relax in the event of rain or damp. Making the relevant adjustments to the tent can solve this problem.

3. Use

- Do not use naked flames in proximity to or inside the tent: care must be taken with candles, gas lamps and stoves, fires, barbecues and cigarettes.

- Condensation. The waterproof treatment on the fabrics may cause condensation to form inside the flysheet and, at times, on the floor too. This happens above all overnight, due to people breathing in the tent, particular heat exchange conditions between internal and external environments or when there is a high percentage of relative humidity. This problem may also occur when the sky is clear, the weather is good and there are no people in the tent. Condensation will clear if the tent is properly aired or with the arrival o f the first rays of sunshine.

- When taking down the tent, remove the pegs by pulling them directly, without pulling the tent fabric.

Proper maintenance for a long life

- Do not fold or pack away the tent if it is wet or damp. If this is the case, once at home it is better to put it up again or to open it out in a suitable place and dry it well.

- Beat the dry tent, brush it and clean the inside thoroughly.

- Do not use petrol or other chemical solvents to remove any stains; use only water, mild soap and a soft brush.

- Clean and dry poles and pegs thoroughly before putting them away in their bags.
